Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by WDZ on 02-07-2006 at 03:48 PM

Wow, some exciting new features...

http://labs.opera.com/news/2006/02/07/2/

Built-in search engine customization, improved content blocker, improved pop-up blocker, and site-specific preferences (for cookies and CSS). :cheesy:

Also includes BitTorrent support, thumbnail previews, "Opera Widgets," and a whole bunch of other changes.

I think I'm gonna give it a try... (y)

Its really good, i've had Opera since version 4, and this version is really awesome. The changes they've made to the mail client are awesome

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by user27089 on 02-08-2006 at 12:58 AM

www.banthem.net/files/opera

I just took a load of random screenshots of what people might be interested in, rss feeds, memory usage, widgets. Didn't try the bit torrent feature. :p

It's a good piece of software, i'm still firefox mad though.

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by Hank on 02-08-2006 at 01:10 AM

it doesnt look to bad.. the calculator widget is annoying,, i mean who would need that in a browser when you got a calculator in the operating system?

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by user27089 on 02-08-2006 at 01:11 AM

Yeah, the whole widget thing has to be one of the most pointless features i've seen in a browser in my life, they just get in the way tbh.

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by Hank on 02-08-2006 at 01:13 AM

its the same as netscape8.1, few pointless features in there also

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by Jhrono on 02-08-2006 at 01:32 AM

ah, if they manage to get people to actually develop useful widgets for this, it won't be that pointless:P

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by Shezi on 02-08-2006 at 04:24 AM

aah good news from opera community...
when the final is supposed to be released..
any expected date... ??????

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by dotNorma on 02-08-2006 at 04:27 AM

Just what Opera really needed, widgets. :-/

Intergrated bittorrent clients suck, uTorrent for the win. :dodgy:

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by WDZ on 02-08-2006 at 04:50 AM

I agree that the widgets look stupid... I guess they might have some limited potential, but overall it's probably a dumb idea. :-/

The integrated BitTorrent client might be useful to n00bs, but n00bs shouldn't be allowed to use BT anyway. :refuck:

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by elf_sander on 02-09-2006 at 10:01 AM

Using opera:config you can disable the Bittorrent, and you don't have to use widgets. I think both are a cool feature. (Although the Bittorrent compatability needs improvement)

Just remember: it's still a BETA!

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by John Anderton on 02-09-2006 at 10:33 AM

tbh its surprising that dz isnt :pound: just looking at the feature list :P

Bah .... i have never tried opera (apart for my cellphone ... its built it ... :P got mobile firefox, will install :P) how big is it ?? i might consider downloading it just to give it a shot.
If i can spend my time downloading IE 7 beta's then for sure i can try out opera cause opera is better (imo .... dont start a war ¬¬) than IE :P

RE: Opera 9.0 TP2 Released by Hank on 02-09-2006 at 11:13 AM
