Future plans in life - Profession wise by RebelSean on 02-08-2006 at 09:23 PM

I'm curious what some of you want to do in life when you grow up. Many of you have different personalities, so it's hard for me to think about it. So, what are you going to do in life?

As for me, I'm still looking into a few colleges as well as what I'm going to major in. I really want to go a dual path, business administration/IT Tech support. My "goal" is to one day work as a program manager for the MSN division (Yes like Leah!).

*-)

* absorbation panics, I have to sort work experience within a month

I would not want an office job but I want an exciting well payed one. But in what profession I currently do not know.

RE: Future plans in life - Profession wise by segosa on 02-08-2006 at 09:28 PM

Hmm, not sure. Obviously something in the IT industry as that's what I enjoy most. I've worked various IT-related jobs, but nothing so far that earns me as much as I'd like to earn. Since I'm going to uni in september I'll have 3 years to decide.

Why not a office job? You make way more working in a office than you would be working in a factory/fast food/grocery (sp?) store. I want to work in a office because of the simple fact I've helped out on the farm since I was like 9 doing random stuff, it gets boring after awhile.

Maybe because he wants a job that he would be happy in? I know he said well-payed, but I don't think anyone is going to work somewhere they don't want to just because it pays better... I certainly wouldn't.

Shmeh, I want to be a graphics designer. I think I'll end up going to an art college in America (I know a friend in one and apparently they are awesome xD) so yea. =P

RE: Future plans in life - Profession wise by ipab on 02-08-2006 at 09:34 PM

Back on topic... :dodgy:

Well, I would like to own my own business, related to the IT industry obviously. Perhpas pertaining to business solutions. Either that or communications engineering.

Just because everyone makes fun of them means office jobs are bad? You could be doing something really great in an office job, and enjoy it. You could be designing newspapers or magazines or web sites or soemthing like that. :-/

I didn't say office jobs were bad? Did I say anywhere in that post that, "no-one should ever work in an office, they all suck, and office jobs are bad"? I was simply stating that Absorbation said he didn't want an office job. Meh.

RE: Future plans in life - Profession wise by qgroessl on 02-08-2006 at 11:02 PM

Military -- then they'll pay for my college.... I would like to either be a Ranger in the military and make a career out of that... or I'd like to be in the Army Band... and make a living in music. That would be sooo much fun... Plus I'd get my education virtually free!.....

And my fall-back plan is something in law enforcment.

RE: Future plans in life - Profession wise by Dempsey on 02-08-2006 at 11:05 PM

Ideally I'd have my own company doing freelance computer repairs etc for local business's, as well as doing web coding/programming.

Hopefully might even happen within the next year or so as both me and the bloke I work with are getting more and more fed up with out jobs.

Been thinking about doing nursing and have had the first interview. Just need to wait and see what comes of that.  So saying I do get that, thats 3 years and then maybe might do a photography course.

Failing all that, I'll start my own business and run my shop on eBay and sell globally.
