Repairing connection by Chris4 on 02-14-2006 at 10:51 PM

Most of the time, when I go to 'repair' my internet connection, I get this error:

I have cable broadband from NTL
Speed of internet connection is 1Mb

Any ideas why?

Check and see if you have a 169.254 address (Start > Run > CMD > ipconfig) if you do, then that means that your PC isn't getting an address from the DHCP server (either your ISP or the router) Try powering your PC off, disconnecting the power from your PC and pressing the power button once (that drains all power) then power off your modem for 30s, power on the modem, then power on your PC. you should get an IP address

Thanks for your help Ghost_Stalker, but I don't appear to have a 168.254 address:

Your connection looks fine. Why do you want to 'repair' it?
