Help build Wabzy a computer by Wabz on 02-26-2006 at 07:16 PM
Hey people I came into some money recently and want a new computer
Just wondering what I could get with £450 from a UK dealer ( I don't want to mess around with imports // waiting)
I don't need a DVd drive as I have a decent DVD reWriter, and I have two ide drives I want to keep. Network cards aren't really an issue either.
Other than that I need everything. Whats my options ?
Oh what I would like
Power so P4 or Athlon XP , a lot of RAM , and the option to upgrade to SATA drives when i need to. Graphics aren't too important at present as I don't play games, but I do watch videos quite a lot.
[edit] I don't need any software I have plenty of licenses spare for software thanks to my University [/edit]
Oh and if you have money spare some nice speakers to go with would be nice.
Cheers guys

Wabz,
As for what to buy for a custom built PC or an upgrade, I usually consult the most recent edition of this guide when it is that time. I've found they make excellent suggestions.
I will leave recommendations of where to buy to those in the UK.

www.ebuyer.com
www.dabs.co.uk
www.planetmicro.co.uk
www.microdirect.co.uk
ebuyer and dabs are the best 2 in my opinion
also, i think go with an AMD cpu, as they will give better performance in the long run. also a new motherboard may need to be bought according to the cpu you do buy (unless you have it already). 1Gb of ram is good enough at the moment
