I have a little problem in that I can no longer view my desktop. I have tried going through display properties and resetting things, but the desktop stays the same; a white blank screen that I believe is a web-page. The property details of it are: about:blank. I have no knowledge of how to remove the desktop and replace my own desired wallpaper in its place.

turn off active desktop.

How do you do that? I've often had that problem.

Right Click the desktop -> Active Desktop -> Turn Off Active Desktop.

For some reason there is no option like that. When I right click the desktop I see options that are exactly the same as those I would see if I right clicked on a web-page.

Thats because active desktop is on.

try going to start -> control panel -> display

and there should be the option in there somewhere
