Parallel Transfer Data Cable help by zach on 03-10-2006 at 10:48 PM

I have a "Parallel Transfer Data Cable - db 25-pin male to db 25-pin male" which I can connect to two computers and play lan games. I want to be able to share data between them also, but I don't know how to do that. Is there a program I need to download? If so, point me in the right direction.
Thanks

First, create an internet connection between the two computers using the Internet Connection Wizard in Network Connections. Follow the wizard to Advanced Connection and choose LPT0 (or wherever the cable is plugged in). You'll have to install a second protocol AFAIK (one that isn't used by your main connection) like NWLink (but maybe that was only W98 that needed a second protocol -- haven't done this since those days) and then just share files like you normally would.

Both run Windows XP? If so: How To Set Up a Direct Cable Connection Between Two Computers in Windows XP. Same kind of instructions can also be used on Windows 98 and i believe 95 too, but it may be a bit different.

I get this error when trying to connect:

Also, how do I then send data between them?

Note: It's LPT1
