How does one become a beta tester? by scifiswain on 03-15-2006 at 10:25 AM

Hello, I'm trying out the new Windows Live Beta edition.  I really would like to know if I could become a beta tester for the new version of Messenger Plus!, as I really miss not having the functionality that comes with Messenger Plus!.  Please could anyone tell me if it is at all possible for me to become a beta tester, or if I should just give up and wait.  The thing is also that I am visually impaired, and Messenger Plus! helped enormously before as I could tell quickly who was online and offline by their own personalised sounds.  I know I could give lots of feedback to the beta programme.  Please help!

you'll have to wait for 4.10  or some other version, keep an eye on the forums, to late to become a tester now sorry

I'm sorry but Beta testing is done by beta testers that have been chosen a long time ago. There is no way for you to be added as a tester now. If you really miss having Plus! that much, the best option you have is to get back to MSN 7.5 untill both WLM and Messenger Plus! Live are out of beta.

it will not be leaked because that would result in the beta being frozen

Incorrect, pretty much all of the beta testers wont leak it.
Even if it is leaked, if any non tester trys using the beta, that copy will be locked down, and patchou will trace the leak to the tester who leaked it, and kick them out of the beta program.

So i don't thinlk there will be a leak.

Is there any way I can be part of the beta testing programme for next time?  How do I get in contact with the relevant people to ask to be let on the programme if this is allowed?

watch these forums, when patchou is ready to accept new tester, he will make a post in here where everyone can see, and it will tell you how to apply:)

if you really want plus! because of the sounds, you really should go back to msg 7.5 and usee plus!3, this way you're sure everything will work ;)

wot part of this form will he be releasing details of the testing

probably in the Messenger Plus! general talk forum, which is where he did last time i'm pretty sure.

but it probably won't be for a while, considering that 4.00 isnt even released, and the beta testers have been chosen for it. you'll hafta wait for 4.1 most likely

There is no exact date as testing is still in progress. It is hoped that the Messenger Plus! Live full release will closely follow the release of the Windows Live Messenger (Not beta)

I think most of us here would like to read what you just said, so can you post in English please.

If you're simply telling everyone that you have to use the old version of plus! because you don't like Windows Live Messenger, get used to it, millions of people out there don't want to use WLM either because of Messenger Plus! Live. Getting used to Windows Live Messenger without Messenger Plus! is really really easy anyway, especially with the nice new interface of the latest beta's (no longer bulky etc.)

If you're hoping people will feel sorry for you and give you the beta, think again, nobody is going to give it to you no matter what. Even if you did manage to get hold of the copy, you wouldn't be able to use it :).
