When i click Try Now on the source site:

We think you are really going to enjoy test driving the new features. And we can't wait to hear what you think of it. We need your help to build it right.

To sign up for the beta, please give us your e-mail address so we can send you an invitation when it becomes available.  We'll also use it to keep you in the loop about the latest developments. We'll use your e-mail address for this beta release and relevant updates only, and the first notice you receive about this will include the option to discontinue further messages regarding the Windows Live™ Messenger Beta if you choose.

EDIT: Ah, new source :). Guess MSN UK just didn't update their site yet then.

Yea, sorry I put the wrong source. Source updated..

I've also tested it with one of my other e-mail addresses. It signed in without the invite :)

these rumors are flying about for wlm is relased to public so
i have created and account about 2 secs ago and im goin to try and sign in without any invites and I GOT IN so you do not need an invite now to b able to get into wlm but i think this is a process to get more people to try wlm and it will b within a couple of weeks now dat it will be took of beta testing

Sounds good, but like JA told: everyone already had it. :P
I don't think I'll use it untill we found a way to skin it. Unskinned messengers are just ugly! +o(

They obviously feel the need to test new servers.

small note:

Because they opened up the beta to all their users does not automatically mean it will be "final" / aka "out of beta" withing a few weeks.

It simply means the beta is now accessable to all the users, nothing more, nothing less.

Weither or not we will see a "final" release in 4 weeks time doesn't have much to do with this.

Remember that the amount of people who had an invite for the beta was only a very small fraction of the whole worldwide userbase of Messenger. Much things can happen now that everybody can access it...

If I remeber the 7.0 public beta was released In January 05 and the final released in April 05.

Windows Live Messenger has alot more work coming for it, it will be months before it is anywhere near finshed I think :P

Exactly, they need to test the servers just as much (if not more) then the actual WLM client.
