problems - video playing (oversized/blue) by DJKAL on 03-22-2006 at 03:46 PM

when i veiw videos in firefox (or sometimes download them onto my PC)
they are shown zoomed in and have a blue tint over the top
this means that you can only see a tiny bit of the actual video but it is zoomed in  to show as the normal size of the video.
also it has a blue tint covering the whole thing thus lime green becomes purple!
this has also happened several times when opening a video in VLC from firfox (open with - VLC)

i have run a virus checker - no viruses
i have uninstalled the only addon i added to firfox before this problem (a translating system)
and i have uninstalled - re installed firefox.
each time the problem persits.

does anybody know of this problem and how to solve it?

PS: this has just suddenly happened, i can not think of any thing i have done to cause this, not installed anything, not changed settings etc - i dont think

EDIT:
its not just firefox its al videos on my PC!!!:'( but i dont understand it, because: everything else is fine - MSN, internet (normal page) etc are all fine!
its just when playing videos they screw up
?!
what could it be?

it might be a codec problem but im not 100%. try reinstall any codecs if you have downloaded any.

Did you update your graphics card drivers?

EDIT: As in, that might cause it happening.

Errrr....
This could have been EASILY solved by reinstalling the messed up codec. There was no need to format your pc :undecided:.

i know it wasnt needed, but i had a trojan and Norton couldn't delete it and it kept placing files on my desktop and running proceeses that couldn't be ended and bringing up a pop-up window etc...
so that was also part of the reason.
