WML by chance on 04-03-2006 at 08:49 AM

will WML take up alot of cpu/ram ? cause i noticed that the newer the version the more cpu/ram it uses.

In the recent beta chat with the developers, they said they are trying to lower the amount of memory the Windows Live Messenger uses, lets hope we see this in the final :)

In addition to DevilFX, yes you can pretty much expect newer versions to be taking advantage of more RAM and faster CPUs. However you'd expect that the growth of RAM and CPU usage is alot slower then the growth of those technologies.

However, RAM usage is quite ridiculous in the latest public build so lets hope the WLM team can lower this before its publically released. :)

Yes of course there is that factor too.

What I don't get is that I can have 20 conversations open, have my contact list open, and yet I still only use ~20-~40MB of RAM. I've not ever seen it go higher than 43MB usage, even with various addons being used. Oddly enough, I've read that if you have your contact list open for a few days that it will kill your RAM usage. But like you said, we've been told this is to be fixed before the final release so we'll have to wait and see :).
