According to my antivirus program... by Menfreya on 04-14-2006 at 04:21 PM

... there is a virus in WLM Beta installer. I downloaded it from the official site, live ideas.

So, I had WLM Beta from January or February and I really got used to it. I loved it and never had any problems with it.

Three days ago my computer started running very badly and we had to re-install Windows XP. So, I had to download my favorite programs yesterday. My new antivirus programme, NOD32, stopped me from downloading WLM Beta. I had to go back to MSN 7.5.

So, why does WLM Beta, downloaded from the official page, contain a virus? :S

What virus did NOD32 say that was in WLM Beta you downloaded from the official site? :)

NOD32 uses heuristics -- meaning that it not only recognizes known virus signatures, but also looks for things that look like a virus, hoping to catch new/unknown threats.  Obviously, this type of detection sometimes results in false positives.

FWIW, I recently tested NOD32 and also noticed it flagging WLM (in my case already installed) as possibly being infected with a suspected virus.

I am sure it is nothing to be concerned about.

Oh I went to download it again and closed Nod32 just before the instalation. Now it worked. Oh I missed WLM Beta!
