Norton Ghost Problems!! by B3N_H4M1D on 04-18-2006 at 06:41 PM

I have a problem with Norton Ghost - I got Norton Ghost 9.0 free with my computer but I also bought Norton Ghost 10.0, I installed 10 but then i lost the disk!!  So I Uninstalled Ghost 10 and tryed to install Ghost 9. But I get this error message:

Unable to determine type of the existing Ghost installation. You need to manually uninstall the existing version or Ghost before installing the current version.

So then I searched for "Norton Ghost" in "All files and folders" on my computer and deleted all there files. But now I still get the same error message.

Please could you help me to solve this problem because i need a full system back up as soon as possible.  Thank You.

Screen Shots Attached.

The message says everything, you need to reinstall the program because it seems the registry is messed up.

no that still didnt work i cleaned up my pc and regestry usind CCleaner, did i disk defrag for C and D and did a normal disc clean up for C and D but i still get the same error.

I think it is because 9.0 dosent recognise 10.0 as a newer version of ghost so it cant go over it so 10.0 needs to be uninstalled but now it is uninstalled i think it is still on my pc somewhere

Had this same error message, and had to use SymNRT (Norton Removal Tool)

Was able to install 2003 after, but had to remove all my other Sym. programs too, of course
