Best video compresion codec by YottabyteWizard on 04-20-2006 at 06:46 PM

Which codec is the best to compress video?

AVI is full quality, full sound and full capacity. No compressing at all.
MPEG is nice quality, nice sound and good compressing. Very recommend for huge movies.
WMV is sort of MPEG, only it only works on Windows. Better don't use it.
MOV's are good for online clips, but you'll need QuickTime for it.

It's your choice! ;)

Best Codec is Xvid.

H264 is also good, but it's still 'young' so it's not as much optimized as xvid.

XviD is definately my first choice. AVI isn't even a codec.
