This is possibly within Windows itself, I used to have it set up like that. But I can't seem to find the option anywhere now :undecided:

I found it. You have to set your computer to go into standby after x minutes byt going into:

Control Panel -> Power Options -> System Standby after x Minutes

Then go into the advanced tab and select 'Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby'

That should display the welcome screen when the computer comes out of standby :)

i don't want it to go to stand by though, just directly to the welcome screen

There is no feature in Windows to display welcome screen after a period of idle.

Windows can be set to jump to Welcome Screen after a screensaver is exited though.

The computer isn't any good when it's in standby though, and you're waiting at least five seconds for it to restore.
