Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 04-30-2006 at 12:16 PM

My nokia 7210 recently fucked itself up, so now i need a new one. im looking to purchase in July.
I would prefer a Nokia or Sony Ericsson.
Does anyone have any reccomendations?

Iv'e been looking at the N Series, but i cant decide between the N80, N93 and N73 Ive also looked at the sony ericsson w810 and w900i

Choose the Nokia N80, but be prepared to pay a quite a bit of money for it. If you like the look of it then you can settle for a Nokia 6280.
Check out this site for some reviews

Yeah that is a good site iv'e been looking on it.. I just cant make up my mind.. 6280 looks the same as the N80, just less features.

How much are you willing to pay?

I would recommend a SE K750...
Very good phone (Y)

Only extra features that would make a difference is the memory size, even though both can take external memory and maybe the camera resolution.

Nokia 6822
http://www.europe.nokia.com/nokia/0,,67286,00.html

not bad :)

im well happy with it

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Mike on 04-30-2006 at 01:37 PM

Get a W900 then :P
Kinda new...
A friend has it.

It also supports 3G calls.

What I dont like about is, the way it opens, and its weight...

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 04-30-2006 at 01:51 PM

Dont really like the look of the 6822, and ive never had a sony ericsson.. Does anyone know anything about the N Series?

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Reaper on 04-30-2006 at 02:02 PM

N Series was released by Nokia to kinda keep up with the MP3/mobile media market.  All of the phones in the N Series have MP3 playback with special MP3 player functions. Each can take up to at least 4Gb worth of external memory, (although the Nokia N91 comes with a 4Gb internal memory). The N92 allows you to watch TV on the phone. All of the phones in the N series are smartphones (they run on a symbian OS) so they can be customised in terms of screen display, although thats not really a huge feature of them as you can do that with all other symbian phones

Ok, in that case, consider if you have an MP3 player, would you really use the main feature of the N Series. If you dont have an MP3 player, then you can buy it and kind of kill 2 birds with one stone

I do, i have a 20gb 3rd gen ipod.
I just like the quality of the cameras on the N series, and the fact that they are new.. i dont want to buy somthing thats a year or two old because it will only be a tiny step up from what i allready have. Whatever i buy has to last me a good few years..
Could anyone give an opinion on whats better.. N80 or N73?
RE: Help me pick a new phone by NiteMare on 05-01-2006 at 03:42 AM

Most Common phones:
LG vx4500
LG vx5200
LG vx7000
LG vx8100
LG vx9800
Motorola V276
Motorola V265
Motorola RAZRV3C
Motorola RAZRV3C- pink
Samsung A670
Samsung A610
Samsung E815

those are teh most commonly claimed phones i get at work, and no that does not mean they are crap most are lost an stolen, others are damaged the same way any phone would be damaged

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Dane on 05-01-2006 at 03:59 AM

Nokia and Sony Ericsson are lame.  Go for an LG or Motorola!  I like the LG VX6000 or the Motorola E815 personally....the E815 is a slightly thicker version of the Razr without the bugs

RE: Help me pick a new phone by rav0 on 05-01-2006 at 04:48 AM

I'd recomend a K750, even though you think that it's old.

LG phones are crap.

Motorollas are ok, but I don't like then very much. The GUI's aren't very efficient. The softkeys are switched around!

esato

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 05-01-2006 at 05:12 AM

I recon LG are crap too.. and im not too phased with Motorola.
Like i said, im looking at Nokia and Sony-Ericsson.. Especially the 'N' and 'W' series respectivley.

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Weyzza on 05-01-2006 at 05:55 AM

N91

Anyways...
I had very bad experiences using Motorola.
So, since then I always recommend anyone not to use their products.

Nokia is definitely user-friendly.
My mom, who didn't know how to call somebody using a cellphone a couple years ago, can text message anyone now :p

Sony Ericsson in the other hand is very reliable.
Strong signal receiver, strong case...
My dad owned one for about 5 years.
I have lost count how many times he dropped that cellphone on asphalt.

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 05-01-2006 at 08:02 AM

Im not looking at the N91 because its so focused on music, and i allready have a 3rd gen 20gb Ipod. Im looking at the more camera focused ones.

RE: Help me pick a new phone by rav0 on 05-01-2006 at 09:42 AM

For all out camera capabilities, go for the K800 (comming soon).

I think that going past 2 megapixels (K750) in a phone is becoming overkill though. High quality cameras naturally take space. The K800's 3.2 megapixel is heaps, and it makes the phone big as well. It depends what you prefer. I'd rather own a K750, and a seperate camera.

RE: Help me pick a new phone by musicalmidget on 05-01-2006 at 10:44 AM

Sorry to go against the crowd here but my last phone was an LG, and out of the various types of phone I've ever owned it was by far the best.  Very reliable and super sexy!

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 05-01-2006 at 11:24 AM

Nah the k800 is one of those new Cybershot ones, which will be rediculosly expensive just because it says "Cybershot"

Although, i will consider it when i get to the actual looking in shops part.. Thats a good suggestion. Thanks.

Do what I did: Walk into a wireless companies store and let the sales associate talk you into something.  If you're like me, you play with it and you'll probably be satisfied with what they think s cool.
RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 05-01-2006 at 11:45 AM

Hah.. No.. or they will have no idea and sell me the latest, most expensive one that i dont really want. I dont believe in listening to sales assistants.. I believe in doing your own reasearch.

same..

end of the day.. they are trying to sell you a product..

they wont be down to earth.. or non bias..
RE: Help me pick a new phone by Reaper on 05-01-2006 at 12:34 PM

I would choose the N80. But if you can wait and feel like spending a bit more, get the N92

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Stigmata on 05-01-2006 at 12:55 PM

My girlfriend has a n70..

its pretty cool :)

RE: Help me pick a new phone by paperless on 05-01-2006 at 05:36 PM

Between the n70 and n80 i prfer the n70..

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 05-02-2006 at 06:34 AM

I was looking at the N92 a while ago, i just dont like the camera ontop. looks dodgy.

Why do you prefer the N70 over the N80? I really cant see any advantages besides the keypad being more accessible.

RE: Help me pick a new phone by user27089 on 05-02-2006 at 06:59 AM

The n70 is a really cool phone, EvilPanda has it and I always play with it in RM, it's great :p

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 05-02-2006 at 08:16 AM

Evilpanda should come suggest stuff then :p

But again..

Why is the n70 better than the n80?

edit: Thanks for the site Nitemare, im taking a look at it right now.
edit#2: Awsome review of the Nokia N Series and Sony Ericsson W810 right infront of me.. Just what im looking for. ++

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Reaper on 05-02-2006 at 10:44 AM

Use Phonescooop or GSMArena and compare the N70 and N80. The best way to decide between the 2

RE: Help me pick a new phone by Pyroteq on 05-02-2006 at 11:12 AM

Yeah iv'e been looking at the W810 and W900.. but i kind of have my heart set on an N Series..
