MSG PLUS LIVE by di3s3lx on 05-02-2006 at 12:51 PM

I was wondering about the 225 build. I know that most of the Plus Live is almost finished. I was wondering what things are still missing, and will there be a public beta testing party or something before the official release? Im very excited and eagered to try it.

no news has been said about another WLM8 build as of yet so whenever that comes out or if unless they go straihgt to a final then im guessing MPL4 will be out soon afterwards

Dane reports basically every build on his blog, Exoendo.net.

Yeah...sorry, added a new "BETA" disclaimer.  Its important to understand that anything reported right now is preliminary and the beta is subject to change at any time.

Copied this straight from a topic in the beta section (restricted to testers only)

*** PARITALLY INERGRATED ***
** Features that don't have all the things that it had in 3.6x (yet). This doesn't have to mean these features are incomplete... Some things that are missing have become useless in WLM. I don't expect all these things will come back.
- Contact List Clean-Up
  * Missing "View Profile" button
  * Missing "Send e-mail" button
- Contact on Desktop
  * Rightclick on nick > Messenger Plus! extras > Display on Desktop... doesn't let you choose location like old version did
  * "Copy E-mail to clipboard" missing
- Boss Protection
  * No more multiple presets
- About box
  * No Hyperlinks or buttons
- Contactlist Plus! menu
  * "Online Help" button (in Plus! menu on contactlist)
- Contactlist Quickmenu
  * Missing "Show the Event Log Window"
  * Missing "Open the Sound Library"
- Conversation Window Plus! Menu
  * Missing "Disable Personalised Status"
- Tabbed Chats
  * Missing "Auto-activate chat windows with unread messages"
  * Group/Ungroup keys don't work (F7 and F8 if I recall correct)
- Personalised Status
  * Auto-responder message formatting
  * Shorten my name when I use a status tag
  * status presets keyboard shortcuts
  * other status then away or busy in presets
- /ping
  * "Respond to ping? requests" on/off
- Quick Texts
  * Missing "shortcut sends the text"
- Word Filtering - ??? Replace by new style quick texts ??????
  * Not able to filter messages you receive
  * Not able to filter contact names

*** MISSING FEATURES ***
** Features I didn't have seen come back in MP!L at all (yet). I know that doesn't mean the won't come back in MP!L at all (v4.00 or v4.10, or maybe even later.
- Task Scheduler
- Configuration wizard
- Enable/Disable "Allow Plus! to send anonymous stats..."
- Automatically change status after period of inactivity
- Contact List Docking
- Truncate Nicknames
- "Allow the use of commands and tags" on/off
- Command Helper windows
- /clear
- Quick Icons
- Contact information (/info)
- Triggers (File Sharing)
- Export/Import preferences

*** FEATURES THAT MIGHT/WILL NOT COME BACK ***
** These are features that probably won't come back at all. That means not in 4.00, not in 4.10 and not later.
- Plugins (completely replaced by scripts)
- Comeback Messages (became useless because you can now use offline messaging)
- Custom Names (WLM has it's own rename, although it's less features)
As you can see this list is quite big, but don't worry. Because when you actually read the list you'll see that the "PARITALLY INERGRATED" list is hardly interesting... there are only very small things listed there which 90% of the users wouldn't notice if it's missing anyway. I still expect some of the things on this list to come back before final release, but this is what's missing in build .225.

Yeah...
ermmm... didn't Patchou asked to NOT disclose build numbers!!! (and this is not only new with MsgPlus!Live, since you're a long time beta tester you should've known).

If you wonder why, one of the reasons is so that malicious people don't get a notion on what the latest build might be: eg: think again about that fake Plus!Live version circulating a few weeks/month ago and what could have happened (more than what happened now) when that fake version was better named!!!!
RE: MSG PLUS LIVE by Dane on 05-05-2006 at 12:54 AM

I talked it over with Patchou and we have come to a resolution regarding build numbers.  Thanks for the concern, though.

Should Mods not delete build number from the topic's and replys?

No, testers are now allowed to give out some information about the BETA, including the build numbers :)

Actually, as my preview now states, build numbers are now only to be given out with strict disclaimers stating that anything claiming to be a build with that number is probably a virus as builds havent leaked.
