Sound stops: Need a fix by Lou on 05-16-2006 at 12:07 AM

I've noticed that , in the past two weeks, sound just randomly stops coming out of the speakers in my computer. If I try to play a sound in winamp, the sound doesn't play at all. It's not just that no sound comes out, the sound just doesn't play. The speakers work fine, and nothing is muted. My drivers are up to date and fine as well. But this happens randomly and I have no idea why. This seems to happen ever since I installed the latest real player:S

Anyone have any idea what to do?

Edit: I figured out that if I manage to get a windows error with that weird beep sound then everything comes back to normal:|

How do you know the speakers work fine?... did you try using them on a different computer or something?.... Cause that's what I'd think it is.

Try with earphones connected directly to the computer output, and see results to discard the speaker problem..
Could it be that you audio card is defective/ getting too hot?
It MAY be the drivers if you just updated, but if it worked ok before than thats not the problem...

You say it happened when you installed Real Player. Have you tried  uninstalling it and seeing if it makes a difference?

So the speakers magically told the computer no longer to play files? It's not just not playing the sound in the computer. All programs fail to play files.

Try removing and see if it happens..
you could use real player alternatives...
