Suggestion - Disconnected by MikeFairbrother on 05-16-2006 at 12:35 PM

Hi,

A suggetion me and my friend had, that I thought would be good, was taht when you are disconnected, that a message will be send to say

Auto Message: Sorry, <nickname> has been disconnected, they'll probably be back soon! :)

This would only show if the user has actually been disconnected, or gone offline unexpectingly (like not signed out properly)

What you think?

I don't thinkt his is possible... I don't think any plug-in developer can really tell whether your signed out because of an internet disconection/server problems... or if you just signed out. It would be nice though if it is possible.

Possibly if you go appear offline, then maybe it will alert anyone that talks to you that you are offline (well they would think you are) ?? Mind you they may realise your appear offline then :(

would be usefull..specially when Messenger has those anoying days of server problems

but i doubt theres a way to distinguish the difference between

maybe there could be a signout button incorperated into the dashboard somewhere and that is the only way to sign out

therefore if u sign out without pressing this button then the plug-in would know you have had a problem

still its tricky probably wouldnt work
but would be good

I've looked into providing a similar feature before, but it requires some Winsock hooking to read the protocol directly.
