Ease My Mind Of Memory by GiantSpider on 05-29-2006 at 04:49 PM

Ok, so I want to upgrade the memory on my Vaio desktop. I've had a look about & apparently I have two slots, one being used & holding 512MB & the other being empty. The maximum apparently is 1Gb. Was wondering if that ment 1Gb in each slot or both adding up to equal 1Gb (512 + 512). And if people have recomendations for which manufacturer to use.

The model is VGC-M1 and it uses PC3200 DDR type RAM.

Cheers

Usually it means both adding up.
For exaple mine has 4 slots and the maximum im allwoed to put in is 1024mb (1gb)
So I suspect so.

SOMETIMES they bios can be upgraded  to support more..... but it may not be so..
So i would recommend adding 512 only, 1024 is alot.... probably you will never use it all up..
As for the brand I have Used "kensington" and it has worked great.

kensington? do you mean kingston? AFAIK, kensington is not a RAM manufacturer...

Its adding them up.
I have 2x GIEL 512mb sticks.

1GB is your total max, from what I can tell by looking it up.

It _may_ be a generic brand where he lives or something. Unless he means Kingston?

Yeah, I was just wondering which wether it was the sum of the two, which it seems to be. Cheers all.
