i think messenger plus might be causing some problems for my msn
does anybody know how to turn it off and just run msn by itself??

Sure.. just open the Control Panel of Windows, go in Add/Remove Programs, and uninstall Messenger Plus! from there. You can always reinstall Messenger Plus! later on if you see that this was not the cause of your troubles.

When you uninstall, your settings aren't removed unless you specifically ask the uninstaller to do so for you
