this is a little OT, and i think i know the answer, but is there any way too get MSN messenger to use a SIP account?

It's a little bit much OT though....  (not to mention even in the wrong subforum as this isn't even Plus! related) :p

Anyways, no you can't use a SIP account with MSN Messenger nor with Windows Live Messenger. Both of these only work with .NET passports.


Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) accounts are only supported by the more bussiness oriented Windows Messenger (which also supports Exchange accounts btw), more specifically version 5.x iirc. Also the newer Office Live Communicator 2005 supports SIP accounts.

Note: Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 and Windows Messenger 5.1 are not available for operating systems prior to Windows 2000.
