List of programs by Nathan on 06-10-2006 at 10:04 PM

Ok guiys,
I need a list of programs suitable (that will work) for vista 64 bit.
I have a question: will photoshop work on vista 64?

Thanks

I'm sure Microsoft would have put in a 32-bit subsystem into Vista 64-bit, otherwise it'd hamper upgrading from 32 to 64.
I've asked a question here: let's keep an eye out for an answer (yn)

Note: If the question hasn't appeared within 24 hours, it's been moderated away.

So I can use 32 bit programs as well as 64 bit. If this is so then why would it say invald application when I try and install e.g: AVG free.
Thanks

Yes; the list SonicSam posted has some "32 Bit on 64 Bit OS" programs in it.

SonicSam linked to a list of programs that are known to work with Windows Vista. The list also includes programs that are known not to work with Windows Vista. Apparently AVG Free Edition does not work with Windows Vista, whereas AVG Professional Edition does.

I'm guessing it will work on the 64 bit version if it works on the 32 bit version. Can you not simply try? :p

Sorry for the double post but:
Is Windows Live Messenger not working becuase vista doesnt have a windows messenger to run it off. Cos it wont sign in!
It cant be the firewall cos it was running fine on xp :S
Thanks

It's possible, since WLM was designed for Windows XP, which has Windows Messenger bundled with it. Then again, it should only really disable things like Whiteboard.

I can use WLM on vista, and I don't think it's because of windows messenger. :)
