Tonight ^^

A new version of Windows Live Messenger is rolling out tonight. There is one STRIKING difference between this version and the previous versions: No matter what buttons you push or menus you expand, no matter what bed you look under or what door you check behind, no matter how hard you look- you will find NO mention of the word "beta".  As of today...

Windows Live Messenger is stamped, certified, verified, sanctified, bona fide: OFFICIAL.

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by upsfeup on 06-19-2006 at 07:52 PM

After a long wait... and where there is not many changes....

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by SerGuMa on 06-19-2006 at 07:56 PM

Yeah, let's wait to see if anything new comes with this new version, but well... I don't think so xD.

By the way, does that means that the official release of MsgPlus! will be sometime soon?

P.D.: Edited the first post to make it somehow more readable :P.

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by MX-G on 06-19-2006 at 07:57 PM

You've got the same screen as the non-americans :( and yes it has something to do with the ips, I saw comments on neowin.net that says that they could view the page with a U.S proxy

Edit: @Chris4 , according to Max's profile, he is from England :\

That's why you should back up the sounds first rather than just going over the top of them. That way, you won't be worrying about it like you are now.

msgpluslive is a one man operation. patchou is probably busy as hell right now, understands that messenger final is released, and is working hard on the release of plus. please be patient, it wont be much longer.
RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by Reload2 on 06-19-2006 at 10:57 PM

He must add a compatibility to this new build too so we can't expect Plus! Live before one week

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by Stef on 06-19-2006 at 11:13 PM

the world goes continue without plus for one week or few days :p

try the best in this time :D

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by Mentality on 06-19-2006 at 11:16 PM

Well I got it and using it - bout time now we just have to anticipate the next release and the mithering entailed with it

BRING IT ON!!! - *I don't think so* [Image: guillotine.gif]

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by qgroessl on 06-19-2006 at 11:19 PM

:p... Why does WLM still save itself into a folder called MSN Messenger :p

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by Stef on 06-19-2006 at 11:22 PM

because

that u don't lose your emotions and other things from the old messenger.
and than this isn't a reason, i don't know why xD

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by jren207 on 06-19-2006 at 11:47 PM

meh, i'm wating for some kind of Plus! Live version installing WLM :P

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by jordanspringer on 06-19-2006 at 11:50 PM

patchou said he made the current build of plus live 231 so it deliberatly will not work with the current version of messenger. can't you just alter those few lines of code?:S

You shouldn't be suggesting to people to alter the (leaked) Plus! Live program, especially not when you're a beta tester... that's just waaaay :dodgy:

^o)
RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by jordanspringer on 06-20-2006 at 12:02 AM

figured, not attempting it , just wondering. i thought it would be something different than that.

i can wait, a week without plus isnt *quite* the end of the world:P

You shouldn't update to the new WLM version without Patchou saying so...
RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by Reload2 on 06-20-2006 at 12:10 AM

Hey, Patchou wasn't supposed to make an announcement about an eventual release date for Plus! Live today? Actually it's already 20h07 in QC (Where Patchou lives)

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by jordanspringer on 06-20-2006 at 12:13 AM

I cannot wait MPL for a more time.

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by ~*McoreD*~ on 06-20-2006 at 01:30 AM

Final release kills the Softpedia leaked MP!L build 224 :( so have to wait until Patchou releases the public beta or final MP!L.

By the way you underestimated this previous in another

Primo, it would be C:/Program files/Messenger Plus! Live
Secundo, as NiteMare mentioned, stating it won't make it come faster.

c:\patchou's documents\programmation\messenger plus! live is a valid folder path and thats where the Plus! Live source is :)
RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by jordanspringer on 06-20-2006 at 01:39 AM

i believe that patchou will announce the plus release date sometime tonight in the middle of the night (12am - 3am).

He seems like he's a night person, he usually released beta updates in the middle of the night around those times, so he'll prob log in around that time and break the news on the release date.

can u still use the plugins?

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by qgroessl on 06-20-2006 at 04:53 AM

With WLM yes... but they're called add-ins... MP!L no... scripting will be in it's place.

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by MX-G on 06-20-2006 at 04:53 AM

would you mean addins?

addin option of WLM Final has been default de-activated

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by qgroessl on 06-20-2006 at 04:55 AM

for more information on plug-ins/scripts see http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=60...d=666704#pid666704

EDIT: Guess I didn't know it was called add-in's in the preferences panel of WLM... :p oh well

RE: Windows Live Messenger final release by CookieRevised on 06-20-2006 at 07:14 AM

Addins, plugins and scripts are three different things.

Plugins are the additional snippets which programmers can make in Plus!3.

Scripts are the equivalent of that for Plus!Live.

Addins have got nothing todo with Messenger Plus!. Addins are program snippets which developpers can add directly to Windows Live Messenger. It is a new feature.

"C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger" ? Why installed folder name is still "Msn Messenger"?

Because it is programmed that way...

Reason would probably be for backward compatibility. And since Messenger does not support polygamy (running of more than one messenger) by default, it is logically that a previous version is overwritten with a newer version instead of being installed in a different directory (so people don't get confused as to run what)...

Answer can better be answered by Microsoft/Messenger developpers though. You can always ask this question as a feedback on Windows Messenger Live.

http://feedback.msn.com/eform.aspx?productkey=messenger

There isn't any chance of us getting a Public Beta? Like it was announced later by Patchou itself?

Probably no point now because as someone said in the 'shout box' (forget whoever it was- made a good point tho) they now need to test the plus beta works with the finished WLM. They knew the plus beta worked with the wlm beta which is why they were going to release the beta.

I'm guessing plus live will be released in under a week or so. Which isn't that bad at all, unless something major crops up between the new WLM and the beta and needs a lot of time to fix.

I'm going to wait. Messaging without plus is like a roast dinner without peppercorn sauce. It works but it doesnt taste as nice.

The version I got from messenger.live.com has the new sounds (EDIT: relistened to it and they are the ones from 7.5 just didn't have the sound up before sorry) and is 14.5MB rather than the 15.6MB download that is linked on mess.be, though they say they are the same version.

The file on the microsoft.com link is not the official release because that build contains the 7.5 sounds, and a few beta tags on various things. The file on the official site, however, is the correct file.
