No, file extraction failure for me.
RE: Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0792 by sufcste on 06-21-2006 at 08:58 PM

The thread was just deleted on the other part of the forum.

I think there should be a place on www.msgplus.net/www.msgpluslive.net that says the latest version of WLM available, aswell as the latest version of MP!/MP!L.

For those have problems with corrupted downloads and/or file extraction errors, try this link: http://www.msgforum.nl/hosted/WLM%20v8.0.0792.00%...tall_Messenger.exe

RE: Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0792 by Nagamasa on 06-22-2006 at 01:54 AM

Wait...I just downloaded it ~5 hours ago, and it was 8.0.0787...?????

Also, I found 2 different WLM 8.0 officals at microsoft sites.

One was Install_Messenger_nous.exe and the other was Install_Messenger.exe

They were downloaded almost 24 hours apart....

Not all of the MS servers might have been updated to the new build at the time you downloaded. If you want to make sure you have the new build, just use my link abaove (it's the english version).

Yeh, it was definately there but now they've took it off :S.
RE: Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0792 by sufcste on 06-22-2006 at 09:23 AM

So why have they had to release a new build already? What was wrong with the old one?
I mean they spent ages between the most recent Beta and the first Final, so why have they had to release a new Final already?

RE: Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0792 by xJ + on 06-22-2006 at 09:27 AM

A good question sufcste.
I downloaded the new build from the given link, installed it. However, there's nothing new with the build except the build name.. ¬¬

RE: Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0792 by sufcste on 06-22-2006 at 09:38 AM

Must be an internal thing then, more stable/secure or less buggy.

An anonymous Messer sent me a copy of a message from John from the Windows Live Beta team, posted in the private newsgroup for managed messenger beta testers:

    "Is there a build 792? Yes.

    Should you be downloading it? Not really. To be honest, it's not officially released yet, test isn't done testing it, so you're installing it at your own risk. We don't have a date or time that it will be officially released. And, for what it is worth, you won't see any differences if you do use it.

    What changed? I really want to know! I've really said all I can. Sorry."

You heard the man, just stick with Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0787.

I read this too, i'm not going to install it, it's not exactly stable by the looks of it and they have taken most of the links off their servers.

ALso for those of you having trouble with the installer;

By the way, if you're having trouble installing any of the downloads below (eg. because of this error: "Extracting file failed. It is most likely caused by low memory (low disk space for swapping file) or corrupted Cabinet file.") just uninstall your previous version of Win Live Mess first.

Also just posted on mess. be;

Apart from the added references to Yahoo! Messenger contacts and the fact that the accidentally leaked 0792 build is ready for MSNP14 (just waiting for the server to be updated), mario discovered some extra error messages in the new client regarding Offline Messaging:

- "The following message could not be delivered because you have exceeded the maximum number of messages per minute. Please try again later."

- "This message was not sent because you don't have permission to send an offline message."

- "This message was not sent because it is too large for the user's offline message store."

- "This message was not sent because Offline Instant Messaging is not yet available in your region."

As you can see, they're putting some restrictions on Offline Messaging which might seem bad at first but will hopefully make the feature more reliable in the end, because I don't know about you but sometimes I want to kick that little green buddy in the expressionless face for not accepting my messages...
