you have to contact an admin, but i don't think they are offering mails now

Wj and Chris Boulton said a while ago (in other threads that have been pruned, afaik) that the mail servers are being upgraded (or something like that).
Be patient. They will announce when people can register for mails.

It will be up later.
I'm all ready on the backend - there are just some things the data center needs to sort out.
Also - emails will only be available to active and long standing members of the community due to potential for it to be misused.

What do you count as an "active and long stanging member"? I really want an @msgplus.net address.

Because they're very susceptible to abuse (re, Messenger Plus! fakes circulating) all accounts will be moderated.
It'll be something integrated in to the forum as well.
For now, you'll have to continue to wait because Patchou or I have not received a response about it from the DC. He's a bit too busy at the moment to worry about it.
