is there a way to open the event log window without going into preferences? like the previous version of plus?

Go to the main menu, then to Plus!, then to 'Display Event Viewer'

hmm i can only open it through preferences. like i use this feature for quick checks then i close it. but now i have to go through preferences and open it
my bad i never use the toolbar at the top just discovered it

I don't seem to have that option when I click on the Plus icon

That's because your doing the same thing he was at first... instead of using the Plus! icon, use the Plus! drop box in the toolbar.
