Ok,,
I have vista on my hdd, and it fucked up XP :P so I want to format both drives...
C:\ + D:\
Can you do this in CMD while your usign the OS, or do you have to boot into safe mode?
I have tried putting in the vista dics and opening CMD but it doesnt recongnize the command

format C:\

and i cant bott into safe mode with vista (i dont think you can)
I dont have the XP disc its at school :P
so any programs etc...

You can format any hard drive that you're not currently booting from, the only way you'll format c: is by using the windows xp disk.

Can't you also format a non-system drive just by right-clicking it in my computer rather than using command lines?  I know that traxor is right about needing you XP disc though (took 2 days for me and my dad to work out that one when we did it the first time :P)

Yes you can do that (right clicking to format) for any drives that youa re not currently booted from. But the only way to format your boot drive is to boot up off of a cd (XP cd, or a cd run linux)

Im about to do the same thing to put vista on.
