Any way to display user status next to they name? by f00kie on 06-25-2006 at 02:13 PM

If my memory serves me correctly, in MSN 7.5 , in the main window next to each person's name it said if they were away, busy, online, etc. In WLM8, you can only tell by the green buddy icon, which isn't always the best for me. Plus, I'd like to be able to distinguish between Away/Idle without mousing over the name (via Mess Patch). Could this be done?

This is something that was removed by Microsoft themselves. There isn't a way to show that information not even by showing All Details.

However Messenger Plus! Live provides you the ability to show Idle instead of Away. Check it out at http://msgpluslive.net

Yea, sorry, I meant to say I have that feature turned on. It just doesn't display the status next to each contact's name, like it used it. I have to mouse over to see if the person is Away or Idle. Any patch for this?

I'd like to know that too. What's so nice about being able to differentiate Away from Idle if you have to move your mouse over the contacts? It's not very practical...

You might be able to write a simple script for MP!L that added the status to their nickname. But this would also appear in chat windows, which could be annoying. I guess it was removed to avoid confusion with PSMs.

Hope that this helps,
