MSN Nicks by System32 on 06-25-2006 at 04:10 PM

Hello, I think a amount of people thinking like me.
e.g: I have make my nickname's color Blue.
But any user, who didnt install msgplus, see my nickname like "[c=45] nick [/c]

I think, if it is possible, can seem just nick name can be good. ^o)

Ummm there would be no way to change what the contact sees. [c=45] nick [/c] that is what your actual nickname is. Messenger Plus! Live colours it accordingly. Unfortunately its a limitation.

not to go off topic but proably has to do with nicknames with MP!3 you were able to rename a contact on your contact list and give them a color for their name is that still in?

You can use the Windows Live Messenger nickname feature and add colour to it if you wish.

add color to the name or the contact list?

By adding color to the nickname (not the screenname; WLM's nickname replaces the original screenname of your contact) you'll see a colored text in the contactlist...

PS: please keep threads on topic!!!! Even if it is related, this was another topic

However instead of using bbcode style codes, use the IRC style codes to set your nickname with, which can be interpreted by previous Plus! versions.

To set the use of IRC-style format codes instead of BBCode-style format codes go to:
Plus! > Preferences > Customize! > Main

and enable:
- Enable text formatting shorcuts
- Use IRC style format codes

What I explained is how to use IRC-style colors codes so other people with Plus! 3 will still be able to see the colors you've set when you use Plus! Live. It's not about how you see your own nickname, but about how others see it...

eg:
- I have set my nickname, in Windows Live Messenger, with IRC style colors, as describe above
- When I log in under a different account using MSN Messenger 7 and Plus! 3, I see this:

As you can see my nick is perfectly colored ;)

--------

Anyways, If you can't see colors in names, it doesn't have anything todo with IRC style or BBcode style codes though. It is because the following option is probably not enabled:
Plus! > Preferences > Customize! > Main > Use formatting attributes to color contact names in Messenger Windows

If you change this option, you need to restart Messenger before this takes effect.

one more question where is the setting in which to change the color of the nickname?
RE: MSN Nicks by CookieRevised on 06-25-2006 at 06:34 PM

There is no setting, you need to apply/enter the colors by yourself, just as you would do with normal text.

Go to the panel to add a nickname for a contactperson, in the nickname field enter the nickname you whish and also apply the colors for it in bbcode-style.

RE: MSN Nicks by -rafy- on 06-25-2006 at 07:47 PM
