Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by riahc4 on 06-27-2006 at 01:44 AM

Could someone upload the scripting documentation to http://www.megauload.com ?

It seems I cant download it from msgpluslive.net nor from mess.be (mess.be is having problems ATM)

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Terry_K on 06-27-2006 at 01:50 AM

I think the domain has expired so I can't upload the documentation.

Have you tried opening the Plus! Live Script Editor and then going to Options > Scripting Documentation?

Probably because you block referers ? I had troubles downloading the scripts and docs too, but I found out the referer blocking was the problem :)

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Menthix on 06-27-2006 at 09:31 AM

Which dodgy browser doesn't send referers :O? That would indeed cause a problem on the anti-leech in the download DB.

i would say it was more likely to be a firewall than a browser, i know norton has a block referers option so probably others do too.
RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Menthix on 06-27-2006 at 09:42 AM

Pfft... Norton is dodgy, blocking referers doen't have anything to do with security. It's only breaking the standards.

Added "allow users without referers to download in DB" to todo list :p. That will still keep anti leech intact for those who do use referers, which should keep it effective.

As far as I know Norton replaces the referrer with some random crap like "----------------------------".
RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Menthix on 06-27-2006 at 12:20 PM

If you are sure about that and Norton always sends the same referer, then i could simply make a rule for that. I'll do some googling later today i guess :).

EDIT: You can download it now if you don't send any referer (or empty string). Those who had problems: Go to http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/browse/index.php?act=view&id=13 and see if you can download.

Also people who have Norton or any other dodgy software for blocking referers, turn it back on and check if it works too.

If it doesn't work... Come back to this topic and click this link: http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/referercheck.php. And tell me what that pages says, what browser you're using and what kind of software you use to block referers (if you know).

Ahhh Very helpful, wouldnt it expect it to do that^o), usually Norton likes to be a pain in my ass and pop up uselessy:@. Well I am using IE-6, Norton Internet Shitcurity 2003 (6.0.4.35) and Norton Anti-Virus (9.05.15):P

DERRR i forgot to tell you, that it did work :D. I just disabled Norton Internet Sh!tcurity and Claimed those referers back:o)

No Need for those using Norton Internet Sh!tcurity the solution is as follows:

<open Norton Internet Security up, click "options">>"Internet Security">>"Web Content"TAB>>"Global Settings"TAB and permit "Information about visited sites"
RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by BigTrev on 06-28-2006 at 12:12 PM

Norton Internet Security 2004:

Either

Disable Privacy control

--or--

Click "privacy control" -> "Configure" (right panel) -> "Advanced" ->  "Add site" -> enter: www.msgpluslive.net -> select it and permit "Information about the visited sites".

Hope this helps!

Trev

But i still want to enable downloads for people with that option on too. Because Norton is quite popular and not everybody is smart enough to turn that feature off or come here to see what's causing the problen, so...

Three6Mafia and BigTrev (and everyone else who uses Norton): Could you please turn that feature back on and click on this link: http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/referercheck.php and tell me what it says exactly.

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Three6Mafia on 06-28-2006 at 02:25 PM

what is quoted with option "information about visited sites" Blocked is
'Your referer is: "".':@

Whilst permited the following quote is returned:
'Your referer is: "http://shoutbox.menthix.net/showthread.php?tid=61687&page=2".':D

Blah, i'm not to worried, i can download MP!L Scripts (What more could one ask for?;))
* Three6Mafia Dances:o)

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Menthix on 06-28-2006 at 03:58 PM

Thanks. It should now work with that option in Norton on too, if anyone can confirm that it would be nice.

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Pai on 06-28-2006 at 04:37 PM

Actually you can set Firefox to not provide referal data to the website (so this problem may not be related to only Norton): just setting network.http.sendRefererHeader in your about:config to 0 disables it, and 1 enables :)

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Three6Mafia on 06-28-2006 at 06:11 PM

But who, in thier right mind uses "firefux".
blah..
Thanx MenthiX, much appreciated.

oh and Pai the err referal problem has been solved if you took the time to take notice of MenthiX's previous post

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Pai on 06-28-2006 at 07:32 PM

Well for starters, I use firefox. And so do a lot of other people, so your personal opinion about it doesn't change the fact that it's quite popular, and therefore worth considering :)

Secondly, if you had taken the time to read the thread from the beggining, you'd notice that Norton was just a hunch to what could be causing the problem, because the original thread starter never confirmed that he was using Norton. So what I did was to inform that the problem could also be caused by another thing other than Norton, Firefox.

And thirdly, as a tester, it's my duty to give as much possible information about any problem, and to try to help solve it :)

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Three6Mafia on 06-28-2006 at 07:44 PM

well then take it to a firefux forum,
the problem at hand was downloading the scripting info, it has now been solved, norton or no norton, firefux or IE

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Pai on 06-28-2006 at 08:01 PM

You're not getting it, it's not a problem so I should take it to a FF forum, it's a feature. Firefox allows you to clear your path through the web and protect your privacy, therefore any website that relies on this information (that can be spoofed) should adapt to it.

And yes, i noticed that it has been solved, as I already said I was just giving extra information :)

RE: Can't Download The Scripting Documentation by Three6Mafia on 06-28-2006 at 08:11 PM

whay, just seems perfectly useless, especially after the fact..

I know there are thousands of apps that can do such things. However, they all do the same (unless the are [b]really[b] lame and use a random string for referer). Be my guest and try it in Firefox to see if it works, it should.
