QUICK TEXT version 4.0.0.235 by minir4 on 06-27-2006 at 04:44 AM

Messenger Plus! Live version 4.0.0.235 quick text works weird?

im not sure if its a bug or not, but in the old Messenger Plus! 3, when i wanted to filter an outgoing word say the letter "i" to be "I" it would do so, but only if it were its own word, but now, if i tell it to filter the letter "i" to "I" it will do it even to the ones in the middle of my words.

This was the main reason i use Messnger Plus!, so i could type lazy and like garbage; say typing "u" to be "you", and no one would know, but now if i type the word "under" it comes out as "younder". so until this bug is fixed i cant filter my words, i think i might have to go back to msn 7.5 and Messenger Plus! 3.

my Windows Live Messenger version is 8.0.0792.00, Messenger Plus! Live version 4.0.0.235, with Windows XP SP2 fully updated.

Why dont use " i "(with the spaces) to change to " I "? This would solve your problem i guess.

that is only a partial fix, as words at the beggining and end of messages would still not be filtered unless i types spaces at the start and end of all my messages, and thus i still see this as a bug. the whole idea is lazyness, and typing spaces everywhere would negate that. this would also be true if followed by periods or other puntuation.

Well you could make "i " change to "I " and likewise " i" to " I" ^o). I mean to put all three "i ", " i " and " i".

but then if i have the words "in" or the word "trulli" then they would still be messed up

and that still wouldnt solve puntuation

When you fill in the word filter and hoover over the textfield with your mouse you would see a tooltip saying:

"To match whole worlds only, surround the text with # signs."

So to match only the words "I" enter "#I#".

i would never have left my mouse over the text feild long enough to see that, but thank you for solving my problem, as a suggestion, maybe it should be written statically on that page rather than just a hover.

And actually, this may be a bug, but it works for every word, but its not working for the word "#i#" to convert to "I".
