WLM freezing PC when left on for a while... by Slack2116 on 06-28-2006 at 04:15 AM

after my WLM has been running for a couple days it freezes my PC.  it didnt this before and after i formatted.  i had the newest build as of now and i ran it with and without Messenger Plus!  i would get NVIDIA errors (my video card drivers) that the program wasnt responded.  or like what just happend now i goto login and nothing happens.  i have traced it back to WLM.  i dont think it did it with the first couple BETA builds but with the last couple and now the final it started.  is there anyway to fix this?
im running WinXP Pro w/SP2 also

It won't be WLM freezing the PC: it's not possible for a user-level process to take down the system like that.

I get freezing errors sometimes: my PC likes to build up dust and overheat. I find taking the side of the case off works, as does cleaning out all the dust from inside the PC.

Hi all,

Just to let you know that starting with 8.0 (beta) and the 787 and 792 releases my pc grinds to a halt when I keep MSN running for a while.. the messenger process consumes 50% and 128MB memory and keeps on consuming....

Maybe I'm not the only one after all...

Raymond

you'd be surprised actually, i've seen notepad itself cause a Nv4_disp error. after opening alot of stuff.

could be a memory leak.

Interesting... and it's probably a kernel-level error, which can freeze the system.

And it's been reported before that some are experiencing memory leaks with WLM.
