Anyone, reply!

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Johnny_Mac on 03-22-2003 at 08:13 PM

Old topics are locked and used for reference... no point in moving them to another new place. :undecided:

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 03-22-2003 at 08:14 PM

Yeah thats a good idea I'd make it an Admin Mod forum so only they can announce things as well coz ya shouldnt have to sift through :spam: to get to the news

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Johnny_Mac on 03-22-2003 at 08:27 PM

Uhmm... when the board first opened it was decided members could post replies, i dunno if thats a good idea or not.

And they already is an forum staff forum, so moving them old threads to there wouldnt be a problem.

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Guido on 03-22-2003 at 09:03 PM

I agree with Johnny, it would be useless to move old threads to a subforum as old threads are in the last pages... and members SHOULD be able to reply, just as it is now.

BTW can only admins post there or mods too? :dodgy:

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 03-23-2003 at 02:36 AM

Would it be possible to have a forum for only higher members where we can discuss things without silly :spam: messing up our convos

Super Mods and Admins only.

N00b: new version, new version, new version, new version.. uhm.. :-/
RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Johnny_Mac on 03-23-2003 at 09:30 PM

At the end of old topics it has stuff like "find the new version here!" which where mostly posted by patchou... Be sure of it, the only active topics are the relevant ones.

I've thought about that... an "intellegent discussion" forum where there wouldn't be threads like "hi pplz i'm new here" and "ne hot gurlz wanna chat?" (Y)

What do other people think? :-/
RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Muss on 03-24-2003 at 10:30 AM

It would never last,

actually, alot of modding would be done in there, which is not a bad thing

So I say try it, maybe you have to have a certain amount of posts to get there??

as a reward for logn time users, but then pure spammers can get there :refuck:

Yeah WDZ it's a superb idea and all you would have to do is create a lookup to see how many posts someone has.  ALthough it would have to be reasonably high so people just cant spam there way into it
RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Muss on 03-24-2003 at 10:50 AM

What about a cut off of 1000 posts?

and super mods and admin (A) :D

.me has done way over 1000, probably closer to 2000 posts, but I have been effected quite badly from old threads being deleted :refuck:

And

Isn't it

Don't try and bend the spoon, but simply realise the spoon isn't there??

* Muss can't remember it exactly word for word :P

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 03-24-2003 at 01:33 PM

I aint a post whore I just have nothing better to do

I like these boards but it gets frustrating sometimes but I think if people had a better understanding of :plus2: had a private forum something good would come out of it pretty quickly

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by WDZ on 03-24-2003 at 11:16 PM

I was thinking just add a new usergroup that has access to the "secret" forum, then the admin ((A)) and maybe other members decide who should be allowed in... :P

Adding something that checks post counts wouldn't be worth the effort, IMO... :-/

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 03-24-2003 at 11:32 PM

So really it's just a feature built into the board then isnt it?

I also think it would be a cool idea not to keep it secret coz good things could come out of the threads.  As members that will beb using it will have a greater understanding of :plus2:

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Muss on 03-25-2003 at 04:54 AM

A secret one that only certain peopel decide who can get in :dodgy:

I like it :refuck:

As long as forum staff are garunteed enterance :P

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by WDZ on 03-25-2003 at 05:53 AM

Of course... admins and mods would get in...

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 03-25-2003 at 08:30 AM

LOL why would that be

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Chrono on 03-26-2003 at 04:32 AM

As I'm in, I like the idea ( I know what I said on the the other forum  )

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by user2319 on 03-26-2003 at 07:06 PM

everyone should be able to read it. but only *good* people should be able to post in it.. and spamming would cause you not to be able of posting in it, which would say: "thick finger" to spammers.

I think Admin's & mods would have to select the people, and trow m out again..

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Guido on 03-26-2003 at 09:46 PM

I agree, it should be public, but only those "better" (:-/) members could post in it.

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 03-26-2003 at 11:40 PM

But better in what sense technically like Dane, user friendly like Koola Blue, general helpers and discussionists (me gfd and raddie)  Or a entire range accross the spectrum of users

Admins decide.. I would say people being nice. people being smart in these things, or people who are just something else..
RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Guido on 03-29-2003 at 06:23 PM

yeah... admins/mods should decide

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Chrono on 03-30-2003 at 12:57 AM

YAY

* Chrono decides :dodgy:

Well, I think that we all know who will be in... we know each other very well, dont we ?

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Muss on 03-30-2003 at 10:29 AM

It would be a select group

People would want Dane in :refuck:

* Muss thinks DZ should just hurry up and make the board, then decide on how to pick members of that board

exclude patchou? :dodgy: :refuck:

Why would U exclude him ?
RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by fluffy_lobster on 03-30-2003 at 08:51 PM

maybe the url could be hidden real deep in the msgplus documentation, so :spam:-happy newbies have no hope of finding it :p
mods/admins/whateva would still have to moderate the membeship though.  Maybe a user rating limit?  I know people could rate themselves but its an extra element to stop flooding mods with membership requests

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by WDZ on 03-30-2003 at 09:12 PM

I'm not really sure about this special forum... I might not make it... blah :-/

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Guido on 03-30-2003 at 09:42 PM

* Guido thinks we need a poll

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by WDZ on 03-30-2003 at 09:44 PM

Muss/Chrono would edit the poll... :dodgy:

:blah!:

I would never edit it... not the votes at least...
RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Muss on 03-31-2003 at 09:56 AM

I would add extra bits in the poll, not change the results though :undecided:

that's if I was to edit the poll :refuck:

Keeping the URl a secret wouldn't be a problem, cos users would have to be 'allowed' in there, so only their specific usernames can get in :D

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 03-31-2003 at 11:31 PM

Well if you can't trust the mods who can you trust :refuck:

I'm still quite keen on the idea and ensuring it's publically readable is a really good idea.  That way people like myself can read the intelligent discussion coz I wouldnt get in anyways

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by D:Frag on 04-01-2003 at 05:44 AM

Sorry about the intrusion here... a new subforum readable by all guests and posteable only by select people... hmmm... what would be that Forum's goal? Intelligent discussion? About what? Why? :P

Who will be able to post there? Shurely the top spammers will :P

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Muss on 04-01-2003 at 05:58 AM

THe top spammers wouldn't be allowed in there

that is what it is trying to cut down on :refuck:

So we ain't bothered by spam

Who said guests could see in there :undecided:

I thought it would be the people who post, could see, everyone else didn't knwo abotu it :undecided:

RE: RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by user2319 on 04-01-2003 at 11:46 AM

It's ment for intelligent, real discussion between 'top-members' then, guest and members who aint (yet) a 'top-member' could look at it (if they want) and follow these interesting discussions.. :-/

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Guido on 04-01-2003 at 04:42 PM

Intelligent discussions deserve to be watched.

IMHO it should be viewable by other members (not by guests, though)

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by [white]shark on 04-02-2003 at 11:40 PM

Top spammer, ME?, my ass!

Whooops, I did it again

Nah, but even if the forum is here and I'm excluded (prolly probably yes) then I'm in favor of the idea. Sounds good.

Greetz

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 04-06-2003 at 10:15 PM

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Johnny_Mac on 04-07-2003 at 01:24 PM

Anyone know what Kiddie Corral is?

On "General Mayhem" if you've been pissing the admins or mods off, your "banned" from the original forum, and when you go to the forums you're in Kiddie Corral [Note: you don't see the colours unless your IP is banned to there]..theres crappy baby music playing and everythign is kiddie colour, people are usually sent to there for a week, until they grow up, highly amusing.

RE: Cleaning out Anouncements & news.. New sub-forum by Wabz on 04-07-2003 at 03:29 PM

Hee hee sounds cool WDZ make me one :refuck:
