Well, thanks to warmth Ver 1.5, is released:

What this script does:
It allows control of who uses your messenger. you add a main email (yours),  and as many users as you like, with each user you can set his/her group to deny or allow access, or restrictions mode.
With denied users you can:
Block them from signing in,
Force their psm to your likings
Log their outbound messages
Change their display picture to a guest one.

What this script will do in the future:

Block file transfers (send/receive) (been waiting 2 years for this to be added to the scriptbase, so its unlikely)
Force DP
Block Web cam (send/receive)
Block Audio (send/receive)
*Block Access to msg plus controls

(features marked with a *, are unlikely, but will be attempted)

New features:
You will get a manual when you install the script for the first time.
You can disable the annoying toast messages also now,
No limit to the number of users,
Disablement of rescue command,
Unload protection - Stop guests from unloading the script, its quite forceful be warned!
Logging of outbound messages
Cleanup of interface
Complete code rework, and authentication procedures.

RE: [Release] Visitor control by Vimto on 07-02-2006 at 04:12 PM

Is there any way with this you can restrit the time they are on it. Like after say half an hour it signs them out ?

RE: [Release] Visitor control by Thor on 07-02-2006 at 04:44 PM

Cool script, good job! :)

Keep up the development, even though I don't want any kids to suffer from smart parents which get their hands in this. :P

RE: [Release] Visitor control by Stigmata on 07-02-2006 at 05:30 PM

on the toast it says "Messenger Plus script finished"..
It is actually msgplus, not Messenger Plus.

Messenger Plus is something completly different

RE: [Release] Visitor control by icepick66 on 07-02-2006 at 05:37 PM

ok, that was my display name, when i took the screenshot,

also that's the default setting for the toasts, the title bar is the default one.

What I imagine he was trying to say:

Couldn't this script be easily disabled by someone by deleting the folder?

9/10  there are strings which are obviously too long. Translators should at least check their work after they've finished and don't do things in a rush. ;)
RE: [Release] Visitor control by Kendjin on 07-02-2006 at 08:19 PM

I like this script, though I am not quite sure about how you truly restrict users from logging in.. or is that the sign out option?

Also a small little spelling mistake. It's DISALLOW, instead of DISSALLOW.

RE: [Release] Visitor control by dylan! on 07-02-2006 at 09:26 PM

is this script for all user accounts on my computer(windows xp) or is this for all accounts (familly members) so if I set only my emails addresses in will it affect other peoples accounts?:S and if it does affect all accounts can you make it so its only on one user

RE: [Release] Visitor control by icepick66 on 07-02-2006 at 10:52 PM

so you dont muck up other peoples msn, its only your account.

untill theirs infinaty user support it will stay that way.

imagine a whole network of computers with Msg+ on the server and this script, lol

about the spelling, dont get me started on my spelling lol,
itll be edited,

you have to click auto sign out guests to sign them out, and the emails on the access list are access only, you cant block people from the access list, just dont add their email and set auto sign out, and they will be blocked

RE: [Release] Visitor control by xJ + on 07-03-2006 at 11:15 AM

I tested the script. I find everything is brilliant, however, when I used an account (that I didn't allow) and sign out of it, the nick apparently didn't change.
Any comment that will change back to the nick that it was used before? And whenever I deleted the space in "what to set for guest name", and clicked ok, I went back the blank changed to 'false', thus the change in nick, without changing back when it's automatically sign out.
Any ideas what is that so?

EDIT: The script rocks though.

RE: [Release] Visitor control by warmth on 12-22-2007 at 10:01 PM

Sorry to bring this old thread alive... but I wanna know if this project is gonna be updated or is just dead???

RE: [Release] Visitor control by icepick66 on 02-27-2008 at 04:49 PM

Itll be updated sometime :P

But ive been away from the Msg+ scene, so i guess theres a lot to learn, only found out today you can now skin with Msg+ 0.o

What features are you looking for?

Started working on it:
EDIT v1.5 Changelog:

Fixed bugs:
+ Made it impossible for the script to be disabled via sign-in->msg+ preferences->scripts when signing in before you get auto kicked out.

first off all... the option to choose where do you wanna display the guesst name (friendly name of PSM)...

option to disable/enable toasts notifications...

and I knew I had more suggestion but right now I can't remember...
RE: [Release] Visitor control by icepick66 on 02-28-2008 at 02:57 PM

Done a bit of work on it, should be released later today if the listbox does not give me much greif:

Reworked a lot of the features, and beefed up the security so it can no longer be bypassed when signing in, and it cant be unloaded without access to the main options to disable the unload protection. (meaning you have to be the main account owner to uninstall/disable the script)

Looking for a way to detect file transfers to stop guests from receiving viruses on your computer.

Also thinking or renaming the script to security or something.

:D nice...

First of all I advise you to do a document or modify your first post of this thread explaining each feature... and next if all goes ok... I can help you with the translation of your script to reach the spanish users of MP!L...

Note: if you want send me a PM (with you address) and I will add you to my messenger...

3. You need urgen to put a link in the options to reach this manual...
Ill add that now

4. something weird is happening that MainAccount has been affected by PSM change...
Which group is the "everyone" group in, and do you have change psm checked?
After filling in the options have you tried signing out/in again?

In the deny list... The "everyone" tag can cause misunderstandings... maybe you must put "everyone else" if that is the case...

No I haven't tried...

Note: Maybe you should add me on messenger and we can talk further of this...
RE: [New Release] Visitor control 1.5 by AylaAsperger on 04-11-2008 at 10:20 AM

I really like this script very much, but theres one feature I am missing.

On the "Please enter your own email" field, I can enter only one address. All the other adresses will probably get forced personal messages and any other settings you controlled for visitors.

But I have more then one address, which are always online simultaneously using polygamy. I would like to be able to enter more then one adress so those addresses wont have guest settings.....

RE: [New Release] Visitor control 1.5 by icepick66 on 04-15-2008 at 09:24 PM

If you put the main account as your primary email, then add your polygamy accounts to the allow list, then move the everyone else to the deny list.

All the emails in the allow list will be immune.

There might be an issue with the PSM changer however, i'll have a look into that tomorrow.

If you would look into it I would appreciate it. I dont want to deny all adresses but my polygamy accounts, I just want to put the DP and PSM that they are in my house, and disallow them to touch the plus! settings. Besides, I have no main account, all are of equal importance.....
RE: [New Release] Visitor control 1.5 by riahc4 on 04-17-2008 at 11:18 PM

Maybe you might want to set a "Password" option so noone can touch the script's options since some of them are pretty powerful.

Thats a very good idea, I will certainly look into that. Even still, its the visitor DP and PSM that I love so much about this script. And the possibility to block some addresses hehehe. So I will keep an eye on this topic for any future developments.....
