Huge problem - Can't boot on my pc by Reload2 on 07-02-2006 at 03:34 PM

Well today, I installed the Vista Inspirat theme from there: http://www.crystalxp.net/galerie/en.id.130.htm and now, I'm having a HUGE problem. I can't seem to login to windows :/ I installed that Vista Inspirat and it asked me to reboot, so I rebooted. After reboot, instead of that blue Windows XP login screen, I get a black screen with nothing but my mouse and it reboots five seconds after.  Now It seems that I can only access to my computer by the Safe Mode. In the safe mode, I tried to uninstall the theme and rebooted: same black screen. I don't to reformat (at least, I can't now because I'm going on vacation tomorrow morning and I was preparing stuffs) so someone can help?  Using XP SP2 here. And my System Restore is turned off. And maybe this could help: in my C:/Windows/Bricopacks/SysFiles, I have files like: 1_access_cpl until 72_wmploc.dll (files like taskmanager, mshtml, paint, regedit, uxtheme etc) Maybe I should restore these files for my window to work again? Need urgent help :S (I'm on my laptop now)

Looks like that particular Vista Inspirat installation has somehow corrupt your system 32 folder. And you should have turn on your System Restore though. Last time I've it turned on, and there's a corrupted theme I installed and have it uninstalled using System Restore. ;)
Edit: Since you don't have it turned on, I guess you have to go through a difficult process in fixing it.
I will help you find a solution on the net, and post it here if I can find it.

Have you try the boot from the XP CD?
Did you experience restarting when you are in safe mode?

I've found this on the internet. Don't know if it's helpful for you. I find it alright to a certain extent though. http://www.computing.net/dos/wwwboard/forum/14651.html

ignore the first question. Cancelled out.

I dunno if it helps, but at startup, where you select safe mode, have you tried "Last configuration known that worked"[or some similar phrase, i cant rememeber it textually]?

Try uninstalling it using the Add or Remove?
The last method I will do is, reewrite the overwritten files with the previous old files,it'll be risky as you have to make sure what file to replace with.
Otherwise, this will be the very last method I will do - reformat.

Insert your Windows XP CD, and boot from it.
After it finishes loading the files, find a way to repair your Windows installation.
I think you can do that by pressing enter, which will go you to the installation screen (don't worry, it wont automaticly start installing).
I think that there will be an option asking you if you want to repair windows on the selected partion.
Select that option, and then let it do it work.
Your files won't be deleted (I guess :P)

Seems unnecessary... Especially if you've already spent a lot of time configuring Vista.  I don't know about the installation's repair system (it never seems to work for me under XP :S); you could just re-install Windows without the format. With any luck it will replace the corrupted files and you'll only have spent 20-30 mins.
