MPScripts.net - Project Monkey by Dempsey on 07-02-2006 at 07:45 PM

Well I know its a bit late for the release of Plus! :P but here's the new MPScripts site so far and just wanted to get some feedback from people.

Also, does anyone have any ideas what icons/pictures we can use for the links for tutorials and forums on the nav bar on the left?

Thanks for any feedback :)

You Are Ell =  Project Monkey

I like the online scripting documentation. Still not sure about the design :P. I think script devlopers would prefere it, less graphicy, more programmy if you know what I mean :P. In other words simple, easy to read.

http://www.mpscripts.net/project_monkey/ gives me this error right now:

mySQL error: 1146
Table 'scripts_main.m8B7t4_datacache' doesn't exist
Query: SELECT title,cache FROM m8B7t4_datacache

But I guess you're working on it. Will come back tomorrow to see it and give some feedback.

I know the scripting docs having some problems atm - pictures dont work and the internal links are broken, but I'm working on it now :)

Has anyone got any ideas for what other categories to put on the Code Snippets pages?  I couldnt think of anymore...

Right: http://www.mpscripts.net/project_monkey/member.php?action=login

Move the google ads to the top bar with the logo. They seriously distract where they are now and they are out of place there.

Script docs need some work I'd assume. And what I also suggested to Segosa with his script docs: make a button where the user can press on and the URL of that page is copied to the clipboard. The URL should be in such a way that when the user pastes this in the address bar of the browser, he is taken to that specific page again, including sidebar navigation, etc...

The design buggers up for me in IE6 , plus a few icons are missing. Other than that, it's comming along pretty good :).

Yea I was just thinking that this morning.  I'm going to add a link at the top saying 'Link to this Page' or something and that will be a URL which can be used to go straight back to that page :)

RE: MPScripts.net - Project Monkey by Menthix on 07-03-2006 at 10:26 AM

- Cookie already mentioned it, and I agree. Remove the Google text links and instead of that add a Google banner next to your logo in the header. Not only will that be less confusing, I also think it will bring more revenue.
- Add some content to the home page (obvious :p)
- It would be nice if people could link directly to any specific page in the documentation. Right now the URL bar stays at docs.php and deeplinking isn't really possible. Deeplinking would be very useful when helping others with scripting. PRE-POSTING-EDIT: Hmm, just saw Cookie already said something about this too.
- Index and Search don't work in the documentation?
- Navigation is a lot better with text added to it, nice!
- The forum lacks links/buttons to member list and search.

You could do like I'm currently doing on the download DB: Start with some basic categories and let that grow for a few weeks/months, after that, take a look what you've got and decide on better categories. You can see it in the download DB right now, "new functions" will probably be splitted in a few new categories after a few weeks/months from now.
RE: MPScripts.net - Project Monkey by Dempsey on 07-03-2006 at 10:38 AM

Yea I'm going to move the google ads, and I'm working on being able to link to specific pages of the docs :)

Yea the search and index are what I'm working on atm, they should be working soon.

Ill add those links back into the forum, forgot about those.

Yea I'll just have an 'other' category for now and once I know what sort of code people submit can decide on further categories (Y)

* Dempsey gets to work on his todo list :P

Another thing (also counts for mpsounds.net): Add back the "powered by" info about MyBB. Also read the topic about that in the MyBB community forums: Regarding the MyBB Copyright/"Powered by".
