I am also very much looking forward to this. I only had two plugins for Plus 3.6 - Stuffplug and Window manager. I really miss the docking feature, and filling the entire height of the screen. I wish I could help with the preferences. Good Luck!

If you want to see how to do plus windows then feel free to download my script (Google Utiltities) as it was made primarily for this reason.
The whole thing is documented and the GUI code + GUI design (xml files) are seperated from the actual google code.

This would be amzing, this is the only left that my boss might see. I so hate the flashy taskbar
I will keep an eye on this one

Wish I could help but I don't know squat about it
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Extender by TazDevil on 07-20-2006 at 01:15 PM
Hey thanks for the interest,
Matty has helped me a lot with the preferences interface, and i am in the process of loading/saving settings from the plus interfece
the plugin is almost complete most features have been already added back except of the balloon tip.
Once i get preferences working i should be able to post a beta version

RAM usage depends on M$ it is relatively high when the contactlist is visible and there isnt much i can do about it, as it is designed that way... You could redirect your thoughts/suggestions to M$ for lower RAM usage.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Jiggs on 08-11-2006 at 11:11 PM
well, i know that. i mean of your script. does it increase ram usage by much? it seems very feature packed, so i thought maybe it does.
i cant wait. looking like one of the best scripts.
thanks

OK ppl happy hour...
I have put much effort last night, and i have compiled a version, this was much quicker than i thought...
Thing is that i must fix as much as possible by the end of next week, as I will not be able to work much on the project after that fro a long time, so i decided to release this version now to get as much feedback as possible.
Any changes will depend on the feedback i get on this...
Download here
so spread the news and give it a shot now...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by NanaFreak on 08-12-2006 at 11:30 AM
The script is GOOD from the little time i have used it but it would be nice if it was user dependant coz other people in my family dont want it how i have it. but it is a good script i love it
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Sunshine on 08-12-2006 at 11:34 AM
My first impression of this script: amazing!
I never used Window Manager but i must say i do like the autodocking. I also turned on "Activate window menu-bar on mouse hover" but setting the milliseconds stays disabled..bug?
Ohh yeh another thing wich might not be as intended: when choosing "load plugin module" WLM crashes. Is this ment to happen forcing a restart of WLM?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Eddie on 08-12-2006 at 11:46 AM
Very very nice script Congratulations of a job well done
Try editing the original post to have the download link aswell
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by markee on 08-12-2006 at 12:15 PM
It's an awsome script but what about adding this to the end of Enhancer.js so that you don't have to reload the script so ofter, it will do it for you.
code: function OnEvent_ChatWndCreated(ChatWnd)
{
DllPlugin_Unload(plugin);
DllPlugin_Load(plugin);
}
function OnEvent_ContactListWndCreated()
{
DllPlugin_Unload(plugin);
DllPlugin_Load(plugin);
}
I realise this makes all the windows flash whenever you open a new chat or the contact list but it would save having to reload the script every time you do one of these. Apart from this I really like the script and most certainly will enjoy using it
Edit: There might be some other things that need to reload the plugin to be able to use the functions of the script but these were the ones that concerned me so I only did them You also might want to use a try catch if the preference exists or not rather than having the script reload all the time even if that preference is not in use.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by lizard.boy on 08-12-2006 at 01:08 PM
I like how it gets rid of the deadspace around the windows, but if I press alt to show the menu in the conversations, it gives the whle window a frame like a standard window, and i cant move the window around or anything. It's kinda weird to reproduce, but try pressing alt, or pressing alt and fiddleing with a menu. Great script though .
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Menthix on 08-12-2006 at 02:17 PM
Awesome script, I love it! Be sure to submit it.
A few suggestions:
- Make it possible to apply "activate window menubar on hover" to contactlist only.
- Make "Animate on show | hide" work in default and dock modes too (if possible)
- Minimum dimensions of the coversation window doesn't seem to go any smaller in width than around 275 pixels, even if you enter lower.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by markee on 08-12-2006 at 02:22 PM
Another idea in addition to those of MenthiX would be to have opacity of windows on focus as well as mouse over (like both selected at once or the choice of either).
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Matti on 08-12-2006 at 03:08 PM
I love the script, except of the fact that I can't seem to get the coolest feature working: auto-hiding the contact list!
Can someone tell me how to get it working, or what I can do about it?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by hmaster on 08-12-2006 at 04:08 PM
It should work automatically. If not then in the preferences, click on contact list. Under miscellaneous settings make sure the auto-close checkbox is ticked and add 1 or specified number to time interval.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Sunshine on 08-12-2006 at 04:16 PM
Mattike, make sure you tick last option in the square in Contact List Customization....i strugled with it at first too then finding i needed last option ticked (about menu)..

That closes instead of hides, i just tried it.
* Sunshine tests some more...
found "auto-hide on loosing focus" stops the automatic autohiding....
* Sunshine updates screenie for correct settings and a fast auto-hide interval..
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Matti on 08-12-2006 at 04:49 PM
Thanks for the help, but I now get a very weird border around my contact list:
It goes on and off every second, the same interval as the auto-hide should hide.
Err... anyone knows how this can happen?!
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Sunshine on 08-12-2006 at 04:52 PM
Hmm is your contactlist anywhere near an edge of the screen (should be)?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Matti on 08-12-2006 at 05:41 PM
Yes, it's in the very bottom right corner of my desktop...

Hmm, did you choose "load plugin module" from Plus! icon > Enhancer > Advanced yet?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Firehalk on 08-12-2006 at 07:32 PM
Well... I really liked the idea but nothing works here!
I really don't know why, I've tested all the functions of the script and none of them seem to work here.
The only thing that happens sometimes is the messenger being shutdown.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Laserjesus on 08-12-2006 at 08:46 PM
I'm not sure if there ever were such feature as auto-hide/show when mouseover, like there were in WindowManager, i just cant find it anyway.
Just like Firehalk says theres seems to be quite a problem because almost every combination of options i've tried results in a frame around the contactlist which disappears and reappers every third second or so. Even tried to reinstall WLM and plus and removing all scripts and stuff. though nothing works
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 08-12-2006 at 09:35 PM
You guys shouldnt select any of the Advanced menu options, those are just for me to debug the plugin module....
You should only use Preferences... and About.
Unloading the module defeats all the purposes of the script/plugin
and Loading it for a second time should crash Messenger.
So just leave those menu items alone (on second thought i will comment them out on release)
Regarding markee's edit to the script i still can understand why he wants to unload and reload the module when a window is created, as the plugin module detects that internally and does not require any script events.
I have noticed the frame (no move) thing you do with alt and stuff, i'll try to get it fixed.
Animate is and will be only available for auto-hide
I will implement separate settings for auto-menubar for contactlist and or conversations.
For the conversation there are minimus internal failsafe dimensions so that you dont break things up....
I will see what i can do with transparency and focus.
Note HOW the Auto-hide feature works...
1. For autohide to work the menubar must be hidden or select the Force option to hide the menubar and then hide the window.
2. The window in Auto mode must be attached to a screen edge. If you select a side in options then the window will autohide even if it is not attached to a screen edge.
3. If you select the Focus option as well then the timer only starts after teh window has lost focus.
For all of you who cant get it to work please post your border width as found in the (right-click) Preferences > Appearance > Advanced
Active/Inactive Window Border (i have set it to 1)
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Jiggs on 08-12-2006 at 10:22 PM
oops. got it to work. auto hide i mean.
took a few applys and oks and restarts, but now it works. its cool.
GREAT script. i love that the task bar finally cant bother me anymore.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Laserjesus on 08-12-2006 at 10:47 PM
Is there a chance that this isnt compatible with the swedish verision of WLM, the latest avalible. Just realized that there isnt a "(right-click) Preferences > Appearance > Advanced"
Gosh, i feel stupid. Theres probably just something i missed somewhere.

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Laserjesus on 08-12-2006 at 10:54 PM
Oh. Yeah. Right.Touché....never mind me.
It says italso has 1 at active/Inactive Window Border.
Still cant get it to work. perhaps i should try it on my sis's computer or something just to exclude the fact that it would be my preacious that causes this.

You should not have included those options in the menu in a release (even a pre-release) version if they are not for us to use...and if you really really think they oughta stay visible put in your first post what the purpose of those items are and that they will be out on release. As a first time user of this script it makes me think i need to use it. And from a testers point of view i'm most certainly curious to test those options too...

Still left unanswered.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 08-13-2006 at 12:06 AM
Activate window menu-bar on mouse hover
that is a global wait timer to activate hovering (ie. how much time does the mouse have to stay over the window to activate hoveing)
it is supposed to avoid unwanted window unfolding while in autohide mode...
this is not implemented yet, it will be implemented later, thats why it is disabled

Are you trying to say that the code that I wrote isn't needed because this is supposed to happen in the dll automatically? I only added this code because it didn't seem to do that for me so maybe it is a bug
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Shondoit on 08-13-2006 at 01:20 PM
I have the same problem as Markee, when I tick the option to make windows opaque on mouse hover, it works for all open windows, but when I create any new window, they stay opaque, unless I reload the DLL. As if the new windows don't inherit these settings...
Markees solution should work for the moment, but it is really annoying
But besides that, Great script
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by aNILEator on 08-13-2006 at 02:55 PM
i find that it still docks to the top or bottom of the screen when set to default and Dock doesn't resize the desktop envionment
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Laserjesus on 08-13-2006 at 10:48 PM
This is just a beta, so really i understand that it isnt working perfectly yet, though im seriosly startin to worry that i am just a complete idiot because i cant get it to work AT ALL. The only difference is that i (and it took a lot of precison-work) got it to auto-dock...for a while.
I've feel like tried everything from disabling all other scripts and processes to "Go Go Auto-hide! DAMN! Uhm...Hide sesamy!..please?....whyyoulittlestupid********"
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by artfuldodga on 08-14-2006 at 01:48 AM
I think I have perhaps found a Bug.
I have this script installed, for a few days now, I do like it. Ok, onto the Bug.
Messenger is running with Plus! Live and your script enabled, with the following options Enabled in your script:
General - enable flashing when a message is received, Snap windows to screen edges (in pixels) [5]
Contact List - Default, animate on show | hide, auto-hide even when menu bar is visible
Advanced - Left mouse button click (Open Contact List), Middle moust button click (Default)
Never touched the Min Demonsions, and Remember keyboard layout between conv is Enabled.
Weird Bug: right click on your desktop, click properties, apperance - advanced - now change your Active Title Bar Size +1 Size or -1 .. up or down, I don't think it matters.
I get an Error, Rundll32.exe - unable to locate component blah blah
MSVCR80.dll not found, re-installing the application may correct this .. whatever
Anyway, I closed out everything I had running, Google Talk and Messenger Live with Plus! Live. Tried to change the Title Bar again & it worked, opened up Google.. still able to resize, opened up Messenger with Plus! Failed, got that Error Message, Disabled the Enhancer script, and resizing Title Bar worked again.
I was using .NET 2.0 Framework, until I just uninstalled it to see if that had anything to do with it. But it did not apparently. & my System is fully up to date I believe. Mess Patch applied & also A-Patch, to shorten Status Info in Convo Window. My Themes Service.. is disabled, not sure if that matters.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Patchou on 08-14-2006 at 03:41 AM
wow, sounds great.. I'll have to give this a try for sure.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Poom on 08-14-2006 at 08:36 AM
I don't know if this happen to you guys, but I find it worth mentioning even though may be only my case. Interested in the auto-docking feature, I downloaded the script, only to find that the default options are horrible (which may seem so only in my opinion) and that the performance of WLM, together with Plus! Live, drops very significantly.
I'd say that you should try to make the default options what users will find WLM to be without the plugin first, and try improving the perfomance. I have 2GB of ram here and even so my WLM was acting like it is not responding. This is not the quality for release candidate, I'd say. An alpha would be a more appropriate term.

I also found reponse time to be quite slow with some things, especially the menus (the plus one from the plus symbol was the most significant and noticable).
I think if you made minimal changes as the default preferences this would be best so people do not get too overcome by such big changes that they may not want.

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one. =D

Laserjesus,
I'm feeling like you! I can't get it to work at all... I've tried everything, but it seems that the script doesn't like me.
The only thing that worked here is the shortcut to show my contact list pressing the mouse middle-button.

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Laserjesus on 08-15-2006 at 03:33 PM
It kind of sods me off that this thing works for everybody else, but not for me (and oh. yeah, Firehalk aswell).
Firehalk, where are you from, sweden? Perhaps it's something with different country-verisions of WLM or something?
Im using:
Windows Live Messenger
Verision 8.0 (Bygge* 8.0.0812.00)
*Bygge is a lousy swedish translation for "build" (or at least i think so ?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Firehalk on 08-15-2006 at 05:53 PM
Laserjesus,
I'm from Brazil.
Here I'm using:
Windows Live Messenger
Versão 8.0 (Compilação 8.0.0787.00)
Compilação and Bygge (in your language) is the same as Build.
I don't know why this happens... but it seems that it's just with our messengers (?!)

I don't.
Ahh... I already stressed myself too much with firewalls.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Laserjesus on 08-15-2006 at 07:29 PM
Nope, dont have any kind of software firewall/AV-program. (Stupid, yeah i know).
Firehalk, obviously (if you have the latest avalible) the "builds" aren't the same everywhere, so perhaps it has to do something to do with it? What do you think guys?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Firehalk on 08-15-2006 at 07:35 PM
Well, if it's true, everyone that said it works would have the same build or is from USA/some place close to it.
I don't believe this is the cause of this problem, but who am I to affirm such a thing? Don't know. I just don't think this is the reason, because just me and you that told that problem (and I don't think that the engine of the program or something like that can change that much from build to build.)

Nah, no spyware either. At least i dont think so?

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by GroteSmurf on 08-15-2006 at 07:48 PM
I'm using the english version of Windows Live Messenger (Build 8.0.0812.00). I downloaded it from here.
For me the Enhancer script is working fine without any problems (sorry guys ). You did again a very nice job, TazDevil !!!
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Firehalk on 08-15-2006 at 09:56 PM
I made a small report of what is happening here.
I am not criticizing the script, just supplying information.
Really enjoyed the idea, its a shame it doesn't work here
_________
In order of menus:
GENERAL:
- "Display animation rectangles on minimize, maximize, restore" - seems ok, except when I minimize (it keeps the default way)
- "Enable flashing when a message is received" - Works. When I disable, it stops flashing.
- "Snap windows to screen edges (in pixels)" - to be sincere, I didn't understand what this feature do.
- "Make transparent windows opaque on mouse hover" - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. When it works, it first turns my window completely black during less than 1 second and then the window gets transparent.
- "Active window menu-bar on mouse hover" - I didn't not understand this too. Is it suppose to show the menu bar when it's set to be hidden and the mouse is near the end of the window (at the topmost area)? If the answer is yes, it doesn't work here.
CONTACT LIST:
None of the features work here.
When I set to "Auto-hide" even when I try different combinations, it makes my messenger becomes crazy: when my mouse cursor is out of the contact list area, my messenger window keeps flashing in a crazy way. (always this happens)
- "Auto-close" - just in the first time of use it works, so I can say it doesn't work (at least here).
* "Hid taskbar button" has the same problem.
ADVANCED:
- "Left mouse button click" is set to "Open my contact list" but it doesn't open;
- "Middle mouse button click" is set to "Auto sign in" and it works perfect.
(Sorry for any write error)
Edit: Oh, I forgot to mention that now I'm using the last messenger build: Build 8.0.0812.00.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Jiggs on 08-15-2006 at 10:43 PM

Taz, is it possible to implement a feature som when you pull your pointer to the edge of the screen, the contactlist shows and then hides when loosing focus. Like it was back in "Window Mangager" Or perhaps that's the way it works for the rest of u guys?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Pure_BY on 08-21-2006 at 10:14 PM
This is a very nice plugin, but as of my experience, it is far from RC1. It has a lot of nice, but rather complicated features, that mess up some (visual) things in messenger. What I experienced very ofthen (but not always), is a menu bar being displayed without reason on maximising/restoring window size. Also, some of other small visual "bugs" that are nor really fatal, but just a bit irritating...
Functionality of some features wasn't really really clear to me, even after testing.
Please, do not think of this post as of something negative, because I like this script really a lot, and the features you introduced are really nice, but as I have experienced it, this script is rather far from RC. Look at this post as to critics from someone who have tried the plugin and who liked it a lot, only experienced some difficulties with it
2 really very nice features you introduced that were a lot of use for me:
- remember keyboard layout for each convo
- minimum window size
Thanks anyways, I hope plugin will be less buggy in the future Keep up the work!!

Go to contact list.
Click between "seconds)" and the textbox. The combo box of Advanced pops up.

RE: RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Keikonium on 08-27-2006 at 08:38 PM
I haven't read thru the thread, but I have come across an issue. When I disable the snapping to windows edge (setting it to 0) it leaves an empty space on the right of my screen. Here is how I can reproduce it everytime:
- Enable this script
- Set snap to 0
- Minimize messenger (to taskbar, not the icon)
- Reopen it and you will have an empty space on the far right where you can click the window behind messenger.
Could you fix this please?
Was an issue with the skin I was using...
quote: Originally posted by 134jimbodude
how about changing the colour of the flashing taskbar when message is recieved
The flashing color can't easily be changed. It depends on your current windows skin (visual style ). Like when you choose WinXP Blue, Olive, or Silver, those are examples of Visual Styles and they all flash in slightly different ways.
It's possible to change, just not very probable (or easy).

As far as I know this requires a patch such as A-Patch or Mess Patch and even then, I think they just let you add/remove some, not rearrange them

I can't figure out how to get to the options for this script. I don't see any logo for Plus! on my window.
(I hate not being able to figure things out for myself ;_
::EDIT:: I got some help, and got it to work (My own idiocy was the problem)
I love this script. I got it purely for the option of letting me set the minimum size of a window (FINALLY!), but I'm playing with the other options right now.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Basje on 10-18-2006 at 09:26 PM
Hi there,
I really like your plugin. I do, however, have some problems. When Enhancer is loaded, I cannot resize the WMLive windows. As soon as I do that, WMLive stops responding. It hides (due to docking), but I cannot click on anything, not even menus.
Only killing the process works. If I disable Enhancer, I can resize without problems. What could the problem be. The only other plugin I am using is Screenshot Sender.

hey ppl sorry for not posting here for a long time, i'm just
posting to let everyone know i am still alive ,
development was non-existent all this time due to college
please redownload and reinstall the file from my site
i made a quick fix (don't have much time to check the
code again for other improvements, i'm in the middle of
recovering the pc from format c: )
* hopefully i have fixed the startup crash (__stdcall issue)
* plugin now reads plus! worker file (MsgPlusLive.dll) from
registry, because this files may change due to installation
of plus! over the existing installation when messenger is running
* in about you can see separately the script and plugin versions
(this are the reasons why ppl have reported not working)
but please do post if you still have problems...
PS: to update remove the previous version first.
regarding improvement of exiting features and new ones
more dev. will be done after about a month, when i'll have
more time available.
(too bad i wont be able to work on the script so i can enter
for the script contest, or should i enter it as is anyway ?)

hmm time to change my sig

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 11-15-2006 at 02:25 AM
Script Changes
- This version finaly introduces an update checker. (thanks to Matty)
- Menus and commands are dynamically loaded
- The Debug menu (for loading, unloading the plugin module) is now shown only when the Debug window is visible.
- About window now shows separate strings for plugin and script versions
Please remember to Remove the previous version before Importing the new version!
updater currently works each time you sign in, but is subject to change, if you think it is too much comment the line
UpdateCheck(0);
on Event Singin, you can still manually check if there is an update through the menu

Done a quick search through the thread, and can't see any mention of the glitch this seems to put on the minimize function. When this script is running I cannot minimize the main window if the taskbar button is hidden. Works as expected when the taskbar button is present.
Also is there any way of making conversation windows opaque when they have focus, be it selecting them with alt tab, etc?
Appologies if this is repeating people, but I've skimmed it and searched it, but I am kinda tired so probably missied this already...
Cheers

hehe, I post this question back to u. since there is no taskbar button, alt-tab icon, or even an entry in task manager, where should the window minimize.... (create an unsexy win98 button on desktop) and then the most crusial, how do you restore the window?
Currently the minimize button acts as auto-hide when the auto-hide option is selected and the window is attached to a screen edge [or when force auto-hide is enabled].
As for the opaque on focus I guess that could be done...
Also to everyone else please remind me of your bugs... see if I can resolve any, now I have some spare time.

Hmmm...I just tried the minimise function and it doesn't do anything here as well whilst the taskbar button is hidden. Though I've never really needed to use it as it offers no real point. If there is no taskbar button, there really is no point in having a minimise button. Simply no focus of the WLM window and it'll disappear.
Though I have another bug to submit.
Sometimes on odd occassions, I cannot alt-tab any of my convos into focus. The WLM green dude is not available in the alttab window and thus I have to manually click it to get it into focus. However, once I do get it into focus, alt-tab works. Currently I haven't been able to replicate the bug myself but it just does occur on random occassions.
Are you sure this window focus bug is not a Plus! tabbed convo bug... because i cant see how my code can produce such a bug...

I still cant understand what is the problem you are having.
From what you said the script and dll module seem to run normally
Make sure you have the menubar hidden if you want to work out the auto-hide feature as well as to configure the script like the pictures on my first post.

Look at my screen shot in my attatchment if you are confused by what i am trying to say.

29-12-2006 - v3.0.17.18
- new version string (Major, Minor, Script, Module dll) for easier update checking
- automatic update now checks for new version once a week (every 7 days)
- fixed typo in preferences
- fixed activation hotkey registration issue
- default keyboard language can be overridden through the registry
(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Patchou\Messenger Plus! Live\GlobalSettings\Scripts\Enhancer\Settings
OverrideKeyboardLayout a DWORD value -> English US layout is 0x04090409, all valid layouts can be found in your debug output window)
- fixed contactlist positioning and sizing after minimize/restore (with autohide on)
- fixed window frame changes after minimize/restore (reported by kvnhmmd as well as others)
Jexel check if this version solves your focus issue...
It might be related to kvnhmmd's bug so...
its been a while since i touched some the code so i dont know if something else has broken... Please check and let me know
i will submit this version to the database (because it takes a couple of days to be updated) but i will enable the automatic update in a couple of days later if nothing is reported here.

Thread is TL;DR.
Any idea what causes this? It only happens when i minimize a conversation and open it again. Also, when i chose the show menu on hover option the menu wouldn't go away, at all.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 12-30-2006 at 12:21 PM
I think I have fixed that, does it still occur with v3.0.17.18 ?
it was an issue that needed different frame handling between convos and contact list with out tabbed chats enabled.
make sure you get it from the link pointing to my site (once it goes live again) and not the script database as its not updated yet.
by the way what does TL;DR mean?
never mind i found out.

07-01-2006 - v3.0.18.20
- read the DefaultUser registry key until user signs in
- override the tray tooltip (can use %email%, %original%, %name%, %status% for predefined text)
- override the tray icon (same feature Plus! has for Messenger Lock, but the icon is changed all the time)
- rearranged preferences
- option to select keyboard layout in preferences

Don't work for me... can you explain how to use it??? I had email tooltip script before and I had to uncheck it, but nothing happened...
Note: I restarted my wlm and actually now works the tooltip feature.. but... my wlm crash... never happened before with your previous releases...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by DeKoVV on 01-07-2007 at 05:41 PM
Works fine!
Very thank you for notification tab, very useful
And override the tray tooltip works only after wlm restart, but it's ok
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by warmth on 01-07-2007 at 06:58 PM
Is a mess that I can use enhancer anymore
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by lovefallen on 01-08-2007 at 10:47 PM
the contacts window autohiding does not work. email tooltip neither. contacts windows free resizing also not working. when menu is not showing all buttons in the right topmost area (minimize, makimize, always on top ecc) disappear and only menu button remains. so enhancer does not work for me..
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by warmth on 01-08-2007 at 11:09 PM
yes mate ... I was very adapted to enhancer... now that I can not use it... is a shame...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 01-10-2007 at 06:35 PM
i have improved the tooltip override issue
get v3.0.18.21 and tell me if it still crashes for you
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Keikonium on 01-10-2007 at 08:06 PM
With this new update, the single click on the systray icon to open the contact list doesn't work. And middle click to close it doesn't work either.
I'm not sure about anything else, but those are really the only things I use . Is it just me, or do others have this problem?
I have uninstalled the script, and reinstalled if that makes a difference...

Let me explain to you what is now happening:
I had the previos version installed but disable (in the script MP!L panel), I downloaded and installeded your last release over the previous one and as Keikonium wrote almost nothing were working... Then I got an idea of unistalling all the enhancer... and erase all the enhancer folder... and I reinstalled the script... then I signed in (I sign in in Offline status always) and all (I think) were working... actually better than always and faster... I made the script config and then when I changed my status to online my wlm crashed again... I closed and when I signed in again nothing were working again...
If you want I can tell you which preferences I have check and wich not... PM me...
UPDATE: I even noticed that always enhancer setup close the wlm and reload it... this release didn't do that... and if you see the about windows the version says "undifined"
UPDATE2:
My info is this:
StuffPlug Version 3.0.249
MsgPlus Version 4.11.0.254
Windows Live Messenger Version 8.1.0168.00
Operating System Windows XP
If you want a list of my scripts installed... jus let me know...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by DeKoVV on 01-11-2007 at 02:26 PM
For me, everything works great
except close button in preferences
I use WLM 8.1.0168.00
and MP! 4.11.0.254
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Keikonium on 01-11-2007 at 06:31 PM
My setup is almost the same as warmth:
StuffPlug Version 3.0.286 (this is the exception)
MsgPlus Version 4.11.0.254
Windows Live Messenger Version 8.1.0168.00
Operating System Windows XP Home
Still doesn't work .
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 01-11-2007 at 06:38 PM
Hmmm
maybe there is an incompatibility with StuffPlug then, please try without StuffPlug and tell me if you are using 32bit or 64bit Windows
yeah the full screen issue annoys me as well... i'll try to resolve it.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by lovefallen on 01-11-2007 at 06:43 PM
i have last wlm beta, last mp!live version, stuffplug and xp pro.
but even without stuffplug it doesn't work at all!
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by warmth on 01-11-2007 at 07:16 PM
I unistalled the Stuffplug and was the same history... but maybe I missed some info that now I saw can be the problem... When I installed your script I went into the LE preferences and I changed the tooltip display form... original is:
code: %origianal%
email: %email%
and I changed to:
code: WLM - %email% (%status%)
then all the problems begin to show...
Update: can you please explain to me what the auto hide feature does??? cuase I think I know what does... but I can find how to see it working cause I have the autoclose feature turned on en 10 seconds and auto hide en 3 seconds...
Update 2: 32 bits...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 01-11-2007 at 07:29 PM
if you go here
http://ioannis.mpsounds.net/blog/?page_id=3&page=2
will will see some pictures from the old version of the plugin... but the auto-hide feature is the same
What the auto-hide feature actually does is that it will put your contactlist window to any edge of the screen to a 2pixel strip (so it will be out of your way) and then you can restore the window by hovering the mouse over that 2pixel strip (like teh animated picture.
For auto-hide to work thou the contactlist must be attached to one of the edges, auto-hide must be selected from the preferences obvioulsy AND the window menubar SHOULD be hidden (if the menu bar is visible then it will prevent the window from auto-hidding to the screen edge.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Keikonium on 01-11-2007 at 07:50 PM
I found the error for me. If I use the %status% tag in the tooltip, then the script doesn't work. Removing the %status% has fixed all the problems, and it hasn't acted up since .
I have the setup I described above, and its 32-bit windows XP home .
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by warmth on 01-11-2007 at 07:58 PM
so is the %status% tag the problem... nice Keikonium that we found the bug!

quote: Originally posted by warmth

well i get the status from the original tooltip string so you should not have any other script / plugin modifying the tooltip string...
The issue was caused when searching for " - " in that string to separate "Windows Live Messenger" from the status string...
if no " - " was found there was an access violation due to an invalid pointer. So now in cases where the " - " is not found ... thus in cases where the string is "Connection Error" (i could not find any other string) %status% will be the same as %original%
The reason i am using the original string is because i intercept whenever the string is being changed by messenger as i cannot reliably deduce the actuall current status on status changing... (with current code)
i have also worked on the fullscreen issue but i am not sure how it works on multiple screens (monitors) because i replaced my old gfx card that i could hook my 14'' tv on
ah, fixed the close button issue as well
I uploaded v3.0.19.23 so check for updates ...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by warmth on 01-12-2007 at 01:15 AM
Mate I installed and now there is already a bug... if you have a personalized status when you install the script and if you have %status% tag in the tooltip, nothing is showed... you have to change the status to a normal one... and then it's showed... after that I putted again the personalized and is showed the normal one again... maybe you can do... that %status% tag display the normal one if there is not a personalized... and in the other hand if there is a personalized one, that is what is displayed... what do you think???
Update: sorry if i didn't understand what was your point in your last post and I am saying that is a bug that you already know...
Update 2: Actually each time that you enter to the preference and click ACCEPT/OK button if you have a personalized status then the real one dissapear too of the tooltip...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Keikonium on 01-12-2007 at 02:37 AM
The update works for me now ^_^. Thank you very much TazDevil!
On a side note, I noticed I didn't have to sign out/sign back in for the tooltip to update. I always had to with the previous versions. Maybe that was a bug before, or maybe that was newly added, but just wanted to say keep up the great work!
If I may, a feature request:
The option to change WLM's title bar text. Currently it says "Windows Live Messenger 8.1" or something like that. I know there are programs that can do this, but it may be a nice addition to your script .

Well saying just that doesn't help much does it ?
You need to provide more information (since you are the only one reported having this "non working" issue.
You will need to post your complete configuration settings
extract to a registry file the key
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Patchou\Messenger Plus! Live\GlobalSettings\Scripts\Enhancer\Settings
Then you need to make a complete list of all the features that work and dont work (with the relevant settings turned on)
Also you need to post extracts from Plus! debug window (You need to "enable debugging options" from preferences and show the debugging window from the menu)
Also a description of your system, Windows OS, 32/64bits, and a complete list of other programs/scripts related to WLM like SweetIM, StuffPlug etc... installed on your system
If i dont have these i cant help you if you are just saying
quote: Originally posted by lovefallen

And please post them in one post so i dont search the forum for your previously posted information...

what does not work is everything related to autohiding, windows snapping to edges and frame hiding fix: there's no configuration that will make these features work. Everything else works so I was wrong, sorry about that, saying "it doesn't work". Ive tried to install this script with messenger with nothing more than Plus added, and it didn't help.
Also, this:
Funzione chiamata: OncWndMessengerEvent_CtrlClicked
or any other string
won't show when in debug when clicking radio buttons or making any selection in "Contact List Customization". Actually, no action has an effect in the debug but apply and ok buttons, when i'm in "Contact List Customization".
As for my computer: I use win xp pro 32 bit installed on a 64 bit motherboard, and as I said before even a clean WLM with just Plus installed does not change my situation. If I missed to say something, please tell me.. Thanks and sorry for all the troubles i caused to you..

Hi, TazDevil! I'm a Chinese (simplified chinese) user of messenger plus! live. Your enhancer script is amazing, but "auto-hide" function doesn't work for me. What a regret!
I've refered to many posts by others, and have done what you told before. Unfortunately, "auto-hide" is still out of work.
Can I find the answer in our forum?
Windows Live! Messenger, Messenger Plus! Live and Enhancer are all running on Windows XP SP2 platform (simplified chinese version).
Messenger V 8.0.0812.00 (simplified chinese version).
Plus! Live V 4.11.0.254 (simplified chinese interface).
Enhancer V 3.0.19.23 (downloaded from your website)

@ lovefollen & okaygo
lovefollen's settings look fine and the debug window does not report any errors so, i my self am wondering what could be wrong....
lovefollen can you post the complete output of the debug window, please ? Specifically is there an exception being called ?
Do you by any chance have the contact list in a secondary monitor ? it works fine for me on the primary monitor and it should work on a secondary monitor as well based on my calculations....
Are you trying to autohide the contectlist to a side that a toolwindow (office toolbar or whatever) already exists ?
Is there anything else that you think could cause a malfunction ???
I am open for suggestions....

I think i found it. when trying to access the config window of enhancer the debug windows reports an "error retrieving settings", these are not the exact words but I'm sure of the meaning. Enhancer fails in trying to load the settings.. then clicking on buttons or ticking options and applying won't give any result obviously.. Ah no, i got only one monitor! I'm unable to make the docking function of Enhancer work properly. Nothing at all apparently happens when I enable the docking option and press "apply" or "OK"
Any ideas to solutions, ideas and hints will be greatly appreciated!

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 01-17-2007 at 04:01 PM
Sorry for the late updates but i am working most of the day so i cant use the internet much...
@ Finkster
As of v3.0.18.21 i removed the auto-dock (meaning: contactlist automatically takes the screen height once it is moved to a screen edge) because i am trying to find a better solution.
You can use docking (adjust desktop work area) thou, by manually resizing the contactlist height to fit the screen height and then move it to the left or right edge.
Please make sure you use the check for updates option to get the latest version
@lovefallen, okaygo
i am still trying to figure out why are you having so much issues
(i think i will design an extended debug version for you to find out what is causing the issue, on the weekend thou)
As for okaygo from the picture i can see you are running too much scripts, that one may be conflicting with Enhancer, or produce an error that inhibits Enhancer from loading...

Oh, I do run many scripts at the same time. So I'll try to unload the other scripts to find out the reason.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by okaygo on 01-18-2007 at 01:25 PM
It seems that I'm not the lucky one.
I have stopped any other scripts, and just ran enhancer with live messenger. The contact list can auto snap to the screen edge as before, but it still can't auto hide to the edge.
Ah, I can do nothing but leave a post here again.

Enhancer for me keeps working rare... many of the features are having a strange behavior... for example the tooltip...
I will post sun a summary of test and results that I will do to enhancer... so I can help you to solve those problems... but now I am writting for one specific thing... that is the incompatibility of the hide contact list of the taskbar and ALT-TAB...
The problem is with the last one... when you have some program that enhance the ALT-TAB windows XP feature...
Like for example the microsoft powertoy Alt-Tab Replacement (Taskswitch) and the simultaneous view of the Microsot IntelliPoint 6.1 Mouse Software for Windows...
The issue comes when you have this programs installed (I have both) and you try to switch windows... It doesn't hide at all... can you do something about???
Btw there is something more... when you have the close automatically the contact windows feature enable... (I have it configured for close it in 10 seconds) and you try to change your PM (or you nick with Stuffplug 3 nickeditor) the windows closes without leave you finish...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by bobbismal on 02-11-2007 at 07:55 PM

System Tray Tooltip - yes

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by aNILEator on 02-18-2007 at 01:14 PM
I tested about 30 scripts and 2 caused high Memory/CPU/Crash usage in messenger this one wasn't friendly at all
Also it really seems out of place on vista, i think this should act more like the pen tablet input tool, if you could do that, would be awesome
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-24-2007 at 04:13 PM
OKi here are some updates
24-02-2007 - v3.0.21.25
- fixed reading messenger resource file in WLM 8.1
- per user preferences
- added %unread% code for the tooltip to show unread messages count.
- removed an unused registry variable that caused errors for new accounts (maybe is due to this many of you were complaining)
- updated script package for new Plus! added version string
- fixed contactlist showing up in messenger lock mode
- autoclose is suspended if contactlist is active
16-01-2007 - v3.0.20.24
- improved multi-line text control ability to insert a line feed by entering (for the tooltip)
- improved fullscreen application checking
I enabled the automatic update for this version as well.
The script can be found on the first post of this thread as usual (from my site) and if MethiX is kind enough to update the script database
@ aNILEator
The high Memory/CPU usage is due to Messenger, that has been discussed lots of times and has nothing to do with the script.
Just leaving your contact list open without any scripts running, the memory usage will go sky high as well...
@ bobbismal
Unfortunatelly the width can not become bigger
@ warmth
changed check to suspend autoclose if contactlist of a child window is active
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by aNILEator on 02-24-2007 at 04:43 PM
true there is memory leaks in contact list, but with enhancer it is 10x worse and changing any settings causes it to crash and burn
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by NanaFreak on 02-27-2007 at 08:22 AM

the most incredible thing your script does is that if I enable and then disable the debugger, I won't be able to see its window again unless i reinstall Plus.. I assure you this appens ONLY when your script il loaded and working.. anyway I get the same error i always have with your script, from version to version: failure retrieving general settings when clicking to see configuration of Appmon+

I tried to find an already existing thread but couldn't, so if there is one please forgive me and redirect me to the correct thread.
I've downloaded the new live messenger with Messnger Plus and the Enhancer script. On my old laptop, the Flashing Window in the taskbar was functionning correctly when disabled.
With my new one and the new versions, the window in the taskbar is flashing on a new message arrival even if the option is unchecked. Is it a bug, will it be corrected soon? Is there a workaround?
Thanks!
Andrew

Stop all MSN Messenger instances
go to "C:\Program Files\Messenger Plus! Live\Scripts"
delete "Enhancer" folder
then re-install the script
this is to make sure that "script_helper.dll is not in use by any instance of messenger
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Sj@@k8haak on 03-11-2007 at 09:37 PM
Still doesn't work for me.
Maybe some firewall things are blocking this but can't figure out what it should be. I'm using F-Secure somebody any idea, because i really want the docking ability.
For the records

Are you using Aero? In Aero for me, messenger crashes when it tries to hide the window.
OK, nevermind. Reinstalled from scratch and now it works well. Thanks!

hi there.
I have a problem... it appears that the enhancer doesn't work on my computer... i've been reading this whole topice for several times to find a clue and get it to work, but nothing works... the only function I really wan't to use is the auto-hide function..
please help!
current versions:
live messenger 8.1.0178.00
msgplus 4.20.0.262
enhancer 3.0.21.25
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Deam on 04-09-2007 at 03:49 AM
I mainly use enhancer for the docking capability.
I realize that as per the developers post, the "auto" resize for docking is not implemented at this moment. Is there any updated or timeline as to when this feature may be implemented again?
Secondly, is there a way to get docking to work with multiple monitors? This worked with the older version on non-live messenger.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by warmth on 04-19-2007 at 02:25 AM
TazDevil can you explain to me how you did the feature that the windows get opened or get on focus when you click the wlm tray icon??? I just need this feature of your pluggin...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 05-05-2007 at 06:36 PM
@ warmth
You need to subclass the WLM hidden window owner of the tray icon and catch the messages posted when the tray icon is clicked by the mouse.
05-05-2007 - v3.0.22.26
- fixed keyboard override requiring restart to work.
- option to lock messenger through tray icon middle button
- hide button show alt-tab (experimental)
- %unread% for non hotmail, live etc. addresses will display a "-"
- %chats% for number of open conversations.
- on message received and tabbed option enabled, status bar text will rotate between active convo and flashing one (experimental)
- fixed disable flashing feature
- fixed hotkeys working on messenger lock

Hi
i was so happy to see that new version today, which would fix the disable flashing feature, but infortunately, it's still flashing when disabled
i"ve encountered the same problem using msgdiscovery, which includes the same option.
this is my newest attempt at testing my system, to see what's causing the trouble,
i"m actually running a 0day fresh ( unattend ) XP Sp2 Completely updated..
the only thing is did before testing Enchancer was to patch my messenger, tested both messpatch & creative patch on another unattend i ran before, same problem...
i have really no clue what is going on since this function was working back in the days on my laptop.
could you tell me if you're using the same procedure as msgdiscovery ( if you know ) for that function ?

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 05-06-2007 at 07:48 AM
Argg, I thought i had fixed this in the version i sent...
Well i dont think i am using MessengerDiscovery procedure as i have to counter-attack Plus! procedure to flash tabbed windows as well.
I have uploaded a new .plsc at my site and sent a new for the database.
It will have the same version number but this time the feature is fixed.
You will not be notified with automatic updates for this version, so you manually have to download it from my site until it has been uploaded to the script database
It was *broken* because i was implementing an experimental feature where if you have tabbed chats enabled and taskbar flashing enabled, and multiple chats simultaneously, the taskbar button will flash - rotating the flashing window title name - so when you are in another program you know which contact sent you a message.
Please try this version and let me know.

Hi
Can a make a suggestion that you post new release information on the irst post of this thread. This would allow people to quickly and easily find what's new in new versions (and if new versions are available)

Yeah sure i didnt have time to edit the first post as well, but since it will be a long post if i add all teh version changes... is there a way to create expand/collapse blocks for change log and screen shots... ?
Also i didnt have any feedback on the feature that changes the taskbar button text alternatively to the active and new message conversations names... so i suppose it works for everyone as expected ?

I'm not sure if this is possible. Another option would be to post the change log in a new post and then link to it in the edited first post.

31-05-2007 - v3.0.22.27
FINALLY got around to fix a major frame issue... (triple bug actually as explained below) FINALLY !!!
When checking whether the frame should be hidden or shown,
- a string comparison was made in english which made Enhancer not function well on all other language messenger distros...
- the "Close" button i used to detect whether the frame should be hidden or shown was not appropriate as when an activity is present, another close button is added to the activity that was detected by Enhancer and confused the results of the detection. This caused the frame to hide even when the window was maximized.
- the internal frame state was sometimes lost when maximizing, restoring and rotating between conversation windows.
- oh and the final test was made on WLM 8.5 beta so yeah it is compatible when the released Plus! will support it
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Matti on 05-31-2007 at 04:57 PM
Seems like the download link is still 3.0.22.26, or did you forget to change the build number?
EDIT: Okay, you just forgot to change it in the ScriptInfo.xml.
EDIT2: Yay, the hiding feature seems to be fixed since the last time I installed this! Loving it!

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 06-05-2007 at 05:52 PM
MORE UPDATES
05-06-2007 - v3.0.23.30
- added back the much improved snapping-docking feature that expands the contactlist to the screen height (seeing that it is not added back by plus!)
- fixed tooltip strings due to altered string table from 8.0 to 8.1 onwards (sorry about that i hadn't realized that there where so major changes)
- added some support for Pager windows (chats with mobile devices) inclusion in %chats% count
31-05-2007 - v3.0.22.27
- fixed frame issue with active activities in conversations
- fixed frame issue where frame setting is lost amongst convos on max restore.
- fixed frame issue with non-english mesenger distros

there is a thing that claims to adjust the transparency of windows when you hover over them. I can get this to work for my chat windows and my contact list, but not for my event logger window. Is there a setting I need to change, or doesn't the script do this?

Currently Enhancer does not support transparency changing for the event logger window as i havent found a reliable way of getting the window handle... (If anyone can suggest smt, i am open to suggestions)

well i dont resize the any conversation window... are you sure this is an Enhancer bug ? Also you need to provide with further information if it is, windows, messenger versions, locale, etc, snapshots would be nice to have as well.
By the way, can anyone else reproduce this ?
Regarding minimizing Contactlist... (Chrono's report)
You may find that sometimes the minimize button doesnt work for you. This is because you have enabled the taskbar button hide feature.
Therefore if you do not have a button on the taskbar there is no means for you ro restore the window from its minimised state. This is why it is disabled.
If on the other hand auto-hide mode is selected and the window is attached to a screen edge, pressing minimise will force the contactlist to collupse to that edge.
Regarding NanaFreak's issue with colored contacts.
Enhancer doesnot interefere with the actual treeview/listview in the contactlist. it just changes the height/width of the parent window.
So this is either a Messenger bug, or a patch bug. As i see you have already patched your Messenger so it would be wise to try and reproduce it without the patch first, on a clean install (i dont consider it to be a Plus! bug either ).

The string WILL get cut if it exceeds 128 characters, this is a windows limitation and there is nothing i can do to change it.
You can choose to insert less or more compact information in order not to trim the tooltip.
There can be a delay in updating the email count as there is no direct reliable way to get a notification when this information changes, i will see if i can find a more reliable way to update the tooltip more often
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by verticalnfinity on 06-19-2007 at 03:28 PM
Thanks man =)Did a wonderful job with Windows Live Enhancer.I now realize what you mean by a word limit for it.It works when I am online but when words for the status like Be Right Back.My email just gets cut off.haha.Thanks dude=)
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 06-19-2007 at 03:32 PM
what is your tooltip format and email length ?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by verticalnfinity on 06-19-2007 at 03:33 PM
its a very lengthy one haha.
%original%
%name% || chat windows: %chats%
e-mail: %email% (%unread% mails)
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 06-19-2007 at 03:38 PM
i have:
e-mail: %email% (%unread%)
%status%
Open Chats: %chats%
and i never have problems
just remember that each new line is 2 chars "\r\n" that is how windows recognize a line feed in tooltips
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by verticalnfinity on 06-19-2007 at 03:42 PM
quote: Originally posted by TazDevil

I don't get this part though.I think it is partly because of %original%.That takes a lot word space. You think?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 06-19-2007 at 03:51 PM
yup %original% tends to be big if you consider "Windows Live Messenger BETA" you waste 27 chars...
the format i wrote above is actually read by windows like:
e-mail: %email% (%unread%)\r\n
%status%\r\n
Open Chats: %chats%
\r is the carriage return character
\n new line feed character
\ is an escape character, therefore \r is treated as a single char same as \n
these characters are not visible to the user though
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by verticalnfinity on 06-19-2007 at 03:53 PM

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by lizard.boy on 06-20-2007 at 10:33 PM
TazDevil, I'm assuming that there are separate preferences for each user. Would it be too much to request a feature to remember the last location a user had his/her contact list?
Right now with my polygamy both contact lists open on top of each other, when I'd rather emailaddress1 opened in the middle of the screen (it docks to the top) and emailaddress2 opened on the right (to dock to the right).
Edit: when I say dock, I mean auto-hide.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by aNILEator on 06-22-2007 at 06:46 PM
I'd Really love the auto-hide feature to be more like Vista's handwriting docked.
so you see a small slither of border, when you hover over it pop out a bit more with the handwriting pen on, when you click it whizzes out, having that for messenger would be SOOOOO cool
Just a little tab on the side, pops out with messenger logo on click whizzes out
* aNILEator dreams.....

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by 25jai on 06-27-2007 at 02:52 PM
TazDevil, for some reason after the patch, i have some problems with the scripts
1: i usually put the contacts window and the msg windows as hidden menu bar. but whenever i maximize it, and restore back to normal, the menubar shows up. this happens to the contact window and also the msg window. and when i hide the menu bar again, it makes my window as big as how there was the menu bar... IT DID NOT HAPPEN LIKE THIS BEFORE THE LAST VERSION...
any ideas?

May I suggest "Ctrl+W closes current tab (chat window)" be implemented in Plus! Live Enhancer?
It doesn't have to be perfect, I mean, you just check if it's Ctrl+W pressed in OnEvent_ChatWndEditKeyDown and it should be nice.

Is it possible to make it so that when you have the taskbar item flashing disabled, it still changes the colour?
What I really want is to know that a conversation event has occurred (i.e. task bar item goes from grey to blue) but without flashing. That, or change the window icon temporarily or something.
If you could do that, I would really appreciate it.

Yes i know, MS keeps changing the format and indices of the string references in the string table...
I had to implement this for providing multi-language feedback but i guess it is causing to much trouble...
I will provide a fixed version soon.

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 03-01-2008 at 07:10 PM
Ok, i uploaded a new version on my server find the link in the first post.
It shouldn't crash on WLM v9.0 (9.0.1407) any more but i wouldnt guarantee that Microsoft wont change their string tables again until the final version is out...
A couple of other bugs have been fixed as well, see the change log on the first post.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by dajavax on 03-01-2008 at 09:13 PM
thanks so much... it now works perfectly
now the only problem with this script is that it deactivates the mnimize animation in windows vista... but well i can live with that... it just happens with messenger windows... it would be nice if fixed though haha
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 03-01-2008 at 10:51 PM
Check "Display animation rectangles on minimize, maximize, restore" check mark in the Enhancer options, to see such animation...
If that still doesnt work then you'll have to give me some more feedback on the matter as i dont have Vista installed.

no it's still the same... what information do you need?
EDIT: maybe with an option to disable that option it will work... it seems like if not checked it tries not to make animations so it also takes out vista's animation... when checked it tries to implement the script's animation but it interferes with vista's and so i doesn't work again.... that's what i think happens
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 03-02-2008 at 06:13 PM
is it easy for you to record a vid with a screen capture program showing the animation without Enhancer ? (because i am unsure of how Enhancer interferes with it )
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by ilove23 on 03-09-2008 at 08:57 AM
hey taz
my msgplus has updated enhancer today. now messenger starts but i can't see the contactlist window. when i double click the messenger icon in the tray, nothing happens.
i'm using windows vista ultimate 32bit and i guess messenger 8.5 but i can't check this, cause i don't see the window.
thx for the help.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 03-10-2008 at 11:11 AM
I noticed that as well, seems it opens the window outside the screen.
To resolve open the task manager by right-clicking the taskbar and in the applications tab, find "Windows Live Messenger" and right-click on it and select Maximize. Then close the contact list and open it again.
I think that should fix it...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by ilove23 on 03-10-2008 at 05:01 PM
unfortunately there is no such application running...cause i have enabled "hide contact list in taskbar"...
whaa
// have downloaded a tool called "window hunter" which is able to make hidden windows visible and/or bring them to the center of the desktop.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 03-10-2008 at 05:35 PM
Before you take the steps i described above make sure you open the contactlist from the tray.
Even with the setting to hide the contact list in taskbar the window name should appear in the task manager
edit: hmm i see you have resolved your issue using counter measures , its good to improvise sometimes
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by ilove23 on 03-10-2008 at 05:37 PM
can't confirm this. even if my contactlist is visible...it's not listed in the application tab of the taskmanagr.

I upgraded to the latest version andsince then, my WLM has been crashing on me. It deactived all the scripts for me. Then I had to one by one test which was the one giving the problem. And whenever I have Enchancer active, it will crash.

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by MeEtc on 04-05-2008 at 04:01 PM
I'm not sure if you want to call this a bug or not, but definitely not the expected behaviour.
At the same moment I was disabling the tray icon flashing, someone sent me a message which caused the icon to flash. Now, without re-enabling the option or restarting WLM, the icon has been permanently hidden.

you can uninstall it by accessing the Plus! folder in your harddrive and then in the scripts folder.... remove the script

Quick register to report this..
May be i have many programs run in background..
After I tried the first feature "Display animation.."
the MSN went down to tray and never come up again
I can't uninstall the script since it'll never come up..
However, keep trying
Cheers

My problem is less of a problem, and more of an annoyance.
Where ever I have my contact list docked and hidden every time I click to switch chats the contact list pops out and then hides again.
This is extremely annoying.

I am having some problems that seem to have poped up for ppl in 2006 and scaning though this HUGE thread I couldn't find a solution:
I am using version 3.0.23.32 or Enhancer
version 8.5.1302.1018 of WLM
and version 4.60.0.324 or Plus! Live
1.) My contact list is always on top now when it is in "Default" mode and even when I uninstall the script (I am not using any other scripts)
2.) I want to use it docked to the side of the screen but without it hiding. So it makes the maximised windows go next to it and not behind or infront of it. BUT it does seem to dock OK with "Dock (adjust working area)" selected but the windows maximised are always behind it and I can't access anything on the side of the maximised application.
PLEASE HELP!
Thanks,
Zasurus

I know this question is old but you can't do that with this script, but you can use the program here http://www.donationcoder.com/Software/Mouser/desktopcoral/index.html which reserves some portion of the screen and not used in maximized applications .

Hi,
I just downloaded and installed WLM 2009 MP!L 4.80.
Now I have an issue with the Enhancer script.
The script only works now after I go to the configuration screen of the script and press OK or Apply...
It looks like it doesn't start automatically when starting Messenger...
How can I make the Enhancer script work automatically?

If I am not mistaken the script is not compatible with the latest version of Windows Live Messenger however I could be mistaken, I will speak with the developer when I see him online next.

Hi all,
Haven't been around much, busy life....
I have noticed that the new version of Messenger has introduced a lot of internal changes.
Indeed not all functionality is compatible with the new version.
I will try to make some updates and tests during the next week(s).
Do not worry, your favorite script will be fully functional before you know it

Nice plugin, I have 2 suggestions:
- When pressed "enter" on a group in contact list in WLM 9 don't open the "edit group" box but expand the group (like in WLM8).
- Move the display picture pane back to the right of the conversation window (like WLM8 and other privious versions of MSN).
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by SmokingCookie on 02-12-2009 at 07:37 PM
Hello Leonmeijer,
Your first suggestion is up to TazDevil.
Your second, however, is to be taken care of by the skinning system of MP!L. You can go to the Skin requests section to request such a feature, if it hasn't already been made.

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-22-2009 at 09:57 AM
Just a small status update.
Most of the functionality has been recovered (hopefully).
Only thing pending matter is some glitches when maximizing/restoring the windows (code for that is all over the place, which tries to recover the whitespace above the windows)
Hopefully i'll have something working later today to post here for some additional testing before i send it to the database.
Soooo... talk to ya later
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-22-2009 at 09:41 PM
Ok, as promised before the end of the day.
The version attached below v3.0.23.80 "should" be compatible with the latest WLM version 14.0.8064.206.
I have tested it on XP to the extend that it will not freeze or crash Messenger, so i haven't done a thorough testing on everything else.
Try it.
When the new version goes live on the server it will require MP!L 4.80.0.356, otherwise it will not load. This requirement has not been implemented yet.
If you identify any bugs or glitches let me know...
Regards,
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by SuperSonic on 02-22-2009 at 09:44 PM
I get an error message saying "This does not appear to be a valid Messenger Plus! script file" I'm using Windows 7, which I assume would get the same thing on vista.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Mnjul on 02-22-2009 at 09:54 PM
TazDevil, your ScriptInfo.xml 's BuildNumber tag is not closed properly (you're closing it with a <BuildNumber> instead of </BuildNumber>)

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-22-2009 at 10:15 PM
Hmm, i think i know what is causing it (but i dont have vista to test it) so...

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-23-2009 at 08:09 AM
ok, one more thing to try if you can bear with me.
Try disabling aero theme in vista and try the messenger windows in restored and maximized mode.
My best guess is that Enhancer should treat the window differently if the aero theme is in use.
Does Win7 have the aero theme as well ?

hmm...
So can anyone else test what i have suggested above, in order to confirm my theory.
Thanks
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by SuperSonic on 02-23-2009 at 08:52 AM
Which is the exact same theme as the one in vista I still had this problem. Yea, you're right, If you disable Aero, it thinks it's an XP type theme, and you get the WLM border:
I'm not disabling Aero if that's what it comes to, and I'm sure a lot of vista users would agree
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-23-2009 at 08:55 AM
Hehe
Don't worry, i dont think it will have to come down to that.
I'll do some research tonight in order to find out whether the aero theme is active or not and void some hacks

It will work but not as you expected. DwmIsCompositionEnabled has an output parameter that is true if enabled or false if it is not. You need to check that not the return value of the API.

What exactly do i need to check, i dont get it...
Is there any other API to tell me whether Aero is enabled or not ?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by matty on 02-23-2009 at 06:07 PM
C++ code:
//Alexander Klimoff (http://netsources.narod.ru)
// See also MSDN Magazine April 2007
[DllImport("dwmapi.dll", PreserveSig = false)]
public static extern bool DwmIsCompositionEnabled();
public bool isAeroEnabled;
// Check to see if composition is Enabled
DwmIsCompositionEnabled(isAeroEnabled);
if (isAeroEnabled) {
MessageBox.Show("Aero Glass enabled");
}
else {
MessageBox.Show("Aero Glass disabled");
}
Something like that... note matty doesn't code in c++

Dear TazDevil, thank you very much for your prompt help but I have downloaded your script and I could add it to my Messenger Plus, but I don't know how to activate it. It doesn't appear any option for disable flashing window or any option to customize the enhancer, I only can see that I imported that script but nothing else.
Please explain me how to use or activate it.
Sorry if I cause you problems....but I am desperate...I need to disable the flashing window in a MSN conversation.
Thank you very much!!!

Ah i get it now... The code posted was c# not c++.
In c++ implementation it takes an in/out parameter to get the output value, of course that is the one i will use ;P, besides the script is in c++.

Well in the contact list window there is an icon with 3 cubes added by Messenger Plus Live.
When you click it, a menu will appear and Enhancer should be listed there, if you select it a sub menu will appear and select "Preferences", go through the preferences dialog box and you will find the option in the general page.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-23-2009 at 06:21 PM
Proper c++ code would be...
code: bool IsCompositionEnabled()
{
HMODULE library = ::LoadLibrary(L"dwmapi.dll");
bool result = false;
if (0 != library)
{
if (0 != ::GetProcAddress(library, "DwmIsCompositionEnabled"))
{
BOOL enabled = FALSE;
result = SUCCEEDED(DwmIsCompositionEnabled(&enabled)) && enabled;
}
VERIFY(::FreeLibrary(library));
}
return result;
}
which will take into account Windows XP that do not have this library installed as it is Vista, and Win 7 applicable only.
Anyway i just wanted to know if this is the correct API...

Thank you, I found it, but something goes wrong, now I see 2 conversations open with the same contact and I only can see one of them but it continues flashing. = (

can you post a screen shot ?
after you take a screen shot and save it, close messenger completely (eg sign-out, exit messenger and then restart the messenger application from the start menu)
and see if it still happens after that.
what are your system specs ?

Well lindi, read the wording carefully and decide yourself whether the checkbox should be checked or not...
* TazDevil considers whether the wording is trivial or not...

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by SuperSonic on 02-23-2009 at 08:33 PM
Once again, I get the error saying not a messenger plus! script =/
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by lindi on 02-23-2009 at 08:37 PM
Hi again! I don't know if the Enhacer is, but now I can start a MSN video call just for few seconds (2 or 3) and then the window closes and appears a window with the message that Windows MSN detect an error and has to be closed
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by TazDevil on 02-23-2009 at 08:39 PM
agh *shit* damn "/"
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by SuperSonic on 02-23-2009 at 08:42 PM
Lindi, try disabling enhancer and see if it still does it... (Click the 3 cubes > Preferences > Uncheck 'Enhancer')
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by SuperSonic on 02-23-2009 at 08:59 PM
Okay, I got a few screenshots here ^^ You fixed it Congrats
Restored Aero: Maximized Aero:
Restored Non-Aero: Maximized Non-Aero:
(When I switched Aero off. I got this error message
I guess it just doesn't like you switching it on or off while the script is running =/ Great work, thanks a bundle
EDIT: I get a crash when I change the minimum dimensions a couple of times.
EDIT2: It's always after 3 times of changing, then actually moving the window's size
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by lindi on 02-23-2009 at 09:47 PM
When I disable Enhacer, the video call runs without problem.....=(((
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by SuperSonic on 02-24-2009 at 05:51 AM

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by WastedJoker on 03-12-2009 at 05:23 PM
Hello,
Been a long time user of this script but after ecently reinstalling Vista (and subsequently latest versions of Msg Plus Live & Enhancer script) I have discovered the script will not dock - I'm selecting Dock from the script preferences but the contact list neither docks nor adjusts in size etc.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by wOoKiE on 03-20-2009 at 07:59 PM
I've been using this script for years.
With the new WLM, it just jams the whole program up.
Time for an overhaul, methinks...

I have problem when loading the enhancer. It can be imported sucessfully. However, when loading the enhancer (i.e. when clicking either "OK" or "Apply", it hung msn. I need to kill msn twice to disable the enhance, so that I can enter msn.
I have ever tried to remove enhancer, delete the enhancer directory and reimport again, but the same problem still occurs.
I even tried to enable the debug window. However, when I click "apply", it hung and debug window doesn't appear.
Any suggestion how to solve the problem?
My MSN ver. is 9.0
enhancer ver. is 3.0.23.32
Thanks
Raymond

oh sorry. it works now. thanks a lot
I did read the previous posts for above 10 pages, but didn't persist to read them all, cos already 37 pages. Maybe I should read the last few pages next time.
I also wrongly thought that version downloaded from the official web site is the latest.

Hi,
under "Notification" and under "System Tray Tooltip" there is the option to modify the system tray tooltip.
I'm wondering if there are any more predefined items than:
%email%, %name%, %status%, %unread% and %chats%
Thanks,
Pierre.

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by levian on 09-15-2009 at 07:57 AM
hi, i am very grateful with the option of being able to remove the flashing when new message is receive! can the email/name of the sender be removed or leave "blank" on the taskbar when message is received? is it possible?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Nysha on 09-19-2009 at 05:23 PM
I apologise if this has been asked before, I didn't see it anywhere but I may have missed it.
Is it possible to expand the no flashing feature to disable flashing for only certain contacts? Or is there a way of editing something that would allow me to do this myself? Certain of my friends seem to be unable to restrain themselves for more than a minute at a time, usually when I'm trying to concentrate.

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by billyy on 02-15-2010 at 02:33 PM
Hm, it's realy nice but the white edge behind when you hide the contact list kinda fails...
Further it is awesome, I haven't noticed other bugs and I loves more space in my taskbar ^_^
Erm is it ok if i translate it to dutch for a friend?
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by murko on 02-16-2010 at 03:14 PM
Damn. Logged in via my laptop today for the first time in a long while. New version of enhancer. Ok good. But after download MSN crach without any chance of reching the settings part.
Where can I find the previous version again please? Download only lists the present I guess?
EDIT: Sorry, forgot t post.....
I am using Vista, 32bit WLM 2009 build: 14.0.8089.726
Updated enhancer to 3.0.23.81 today, and.... CRASH...
It works fine on my stationary computer though (XP) but crashed on my vista. So now I really need to go back to previous working version. Any link to that please?

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by kaamos on 02-26-2010 at 06:06 PM
Where could I get version 3.0.23.81??
At msgpluslive.net I found this:
http://www.msgpluslive.net/scripts/view/157-Enhancer/
As you can see, it shows version 3.0.23.81...
...but when I click DOWNLOAD it just gives me version 3.0.23.32.
Thanks in advance.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by billyy on 02-26-2010 at 06:45 PM
I had the same problem with another download, i advice you to clear yer browser cache :/
But the only way it worked for me was when the creator uploaded it to another server...
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by kaamos on 02-26-2010 at 07:34 PM
this PC has been formatted 1 hour ago.
On the first time I ran Messenger Plus! Live I saw the update for this script, but it couldn't download it.
So I went to Messenger Plus! Live homepage, looking for that version "81"
Nothing about browsing cache here.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Chris4 on 02-26-2010 at 07:40 PM
When I download in Firefox I get 3.0.23.81
When I download in Chrome I get 3.0.23.32
So I don't know what's up with that.
It was just the filename - both were the latest version when installed.
Clear your browsers cache. If no good, just wait a little longer and it should update on all the servers.
Here, I've uploaded the latest version temporarily.
RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by kaamos on 02-26-2010 at 08:02 PM
Thank you Chris4!

RE: Messenger Plus! Live Enhancer by Ikamico on 03-04-2010 at 04:42 AM
I'm still getting errors with .81 I think it has something to do when you open up the main messenger with the contacts on it if it was minimized. That seems to be when it's crashing. I opened up the debugging tool but for some reason that's when the crashes don't happen. At best it's stopping me from even opening up the main messenger. Can anyone take a look at the source code?
