First of all.
The installer has an OPTIONAL sponsor adware. You must chose that you want to install it for it to be installed..... It is very clear... Anyways, It displays some ads in IE.

Well, it's exactly to prevent others to steal his code :P

Both, it's so that noone can make a similar app, and taking credit for it.

I find it interesting that people can't figure out the difference between spyware and adware.

Spyware = unwanted things that get onto your computer without your permission.

Adware = things that get onto your computer with your consent such as accepting the sponsor program.

Thus forth Messenger Plus has never given out any spyware because the stuff that is distrubted is optional and will only be installed if you allow it.

Hey, it's an easy mistake to make ;) I didn't even know the definitions before now :P

Trying to persuade people to get plus when their Adware Protection/Virus scanner with protection has already caught it (falsely) is hard :P

Cloudy

Still, thats a bit wrong
Spyware=program that may/may not ask for authorization to install themselves, they send your surfing habits to some server...

No. To be adware it asks you for permission or states you will receive it. Spyware doesn't ask you for permission. Some adware sends things about you some doesn't. Just like some spyware displays ads.

Afaik, adware doesnt ask you permission most of the time....

That's not all spyware does lol... there is many different things spyware can do like the dialers. Those are pretty nasty for people with dial up internet

Hangan's definition is much more correct....

Spyware are things which log stuff (this can be surfing habits, but this can also be many other stuff; and it isn't always send to some server either) without you knowing about it. period.

This is installed without your authorization too (otherwise you would know about it)... hence the word 'spy'.

Adware are things which shows ads. period. Simple as that. This can both be optional as mandatory. (optional: eg: Plus!'s sponsor, mandatory: ads in messenger itself!).
