Find a great laptop/notebook at around $1000 by Joe on 07-08-2006 at 06:03 AM

I have been working all summer at my minimum wage job stocking shelves at the local liquor store and by the time I'm finished working this summer... in about 4 weeks... I'l have about $1000 saved up.

I want you to help me find a great deal on a laptop for around a $1000 price range.

Basically here's what I want.

  • At least 1Gig of RAM
  • Decent, if not great, processor speed
  • Decently sized display (around 14 in. at least)
  • 60 Gig hard drive at least
Then of course all the necessary mobility components, like wireless capabilities and such.

I have found a few okay deals through Dell, but I want to do my best to make sure I see all possible options and am getting the best bang for my buck.

Thank You.

Joe

HERE is the customization I have from Dell:

That laptop right there is hot, you should maybe try Mesh Computers :).

Dell's prices are always a bit higher than they need to be, you won't get the best bang for your buck from Dell. Also, Dell is always having a sale/specials, so if you've found a good deal that is this week only, don't rush into it, next week, there will be another offer that will give you the same end result. I don't like Dell though. I don't know how reliable their laptops are, but I haven't seen decency from their desktops.

MacBook seems nice (even though I've never seen one :^))

Need opinion on laptop specs
