Trailing windows.... by Vazza on 07-10-2006 at 07:42 PM

Hey all

Wonder if anyone can provide an answer or solution to the following problem.  We have a computer from a friend who windows are trailing i.e. if you move it around the screen, it's like having trail on the mouse pointer. But if you move it downwards, it like a constant refresh (before anyone starts, I know that the screen refreshes). The thing is that icons move smoothly. Any reason why this would be happening?

Thanks in advance

Go to Control Panel -> Mouse ->Pointer Options.
Then select Display pointer trails :P

Hope this is what you mean

No, it's not the mouse that's trailing, it the windows! I know how to fix the mouse one. I was merely using that to describe how the window was moving

Most likely the graphic drivers arn't installed or are corrupt. Find out what video card is in the computer and get the lastest drivers. It should fix the problem.

turn down the video acceleration on you display settings, located in one of the advanced tabs

This happens on my computer from a friend. The problem is that the computer isn't powerful enough to handle it, so it looks borked as the computer tries to cope. You can disable showing window contents while dragging (it just shows an outline like you see if you try to drag a rectangle around desktop icons).

yeah this is like a common windows error if it has a minor crashy bug or gets stuck on something (normally explorer.exe) i used to have it alot, it makes prettyness and can be fun to drag around trying to make the perfect shrinking effects, but either way its not a features, its a bug :P
