hi my m8's computer hasn't got any anti virus and I think he may have a trojan on it is there any free, safe anti virus that I could download to get rid of any virus and trojans plz thanks!

AVG Free Edition.
It's very popular, and I strongly recommend it. Just make sure your friend updates it.

I used AVG for a bit, but I think Avast! is the best free one. But AVG is still good if you want.
I'd recommend trying them both incase one virus checker can't find the virus.

Compare the downloads on download.com:
AVG Free Edition downloads: 8,330,914
Avast Home Edition downloads: 3,604,560
Yes, I think AVG Free Edition is better.

They always say having 2 can cause conflict and therefore give you problems, so I'd only reccomend 1, but you could always get 2 if you like, just reminding you of the possible conflict.

Well I can't use avast because Nolton Antivirus is still installed and Nolton won't uninstall because the uninstall isn't there.

Then try to do a repair?
Or just install even though norton is there.

if you rate it that way then IE is better then FF... (if you don't agree to that, well then there is my point
)avast get's better test results in most virusscannertests...

I went on add and remove programs and then on Nolton and there isn't a repair button (I'm Doomed)!

I don't believe it i installed AVG and did a scan which took 2 hours (OMG) and there was no virsus, spyware or anything I mean I can't believe it didn't pick up anything!
just to let everyone know I managed to uninstall Nolton after.
