MSN Messenger 7.5 won't come up on Win XP login by p23185 on 07-15-2006 at 05:15 AM

During the past week my MSN 7.5 will not enable itself upon my logon to my Win XP Home SP2, but still does on my wife's accout.  What would cause this?  The only thing new is my update on Norton Antivirus, which of course is identical on my wife's login.  I have even tried re-downloading and re-installing the program from the MSN websit- still will not enable upon boot up and login.  It is an inconvience that I have to now remember each time to sign in manually.  I cannot figure it out.  I also have FreeMem and it also has lost it's ability to come up on login.  Very confusing - any suggestions.

What do you mean by enable itself? Run itself on startup?

Anyhow, you might want to get the sucessor of MSN Messenger - Windows Live Messenger at http://messenger.live.com

  1. Login with your account
  2. Go to Tools > Options > General in Messenger.
  3. Make sure Automaticly start messenger on startup or something like that is ticked.[/list]

If that doesnt work then -

    • Go to Start > Run and type "msconfig"(without quotes).
    • Go to the Startup tab.
    • Make sure msnmsgr is ticked.
