Long Story. So screwed by Bananaaa on 07-15-2006 at 06:50 PM

This is a really long story...
So I used to have Messenger Plus until I decided to install Messenger Plus LIVE. I installed it and decided that I didn't like it that much and wanted to go back to Messenger Plus. So I deleted everything and I began installing Messenger Plus over again.
The bad thing is, it said that I need Windows Messenger Version 4.6 in order to download it again. So I did.
After I did that, I download Messenger Plus but it opens using Windows Messenger. It has the  Plus tab though, and I really don't know what's going on.

When I tried removing Windows Messenger, it doesn't show up on my Add/Remove Programs.

I know this is a bit complicated, but can anyone help?

Yes so know download MSN Messenger from here -> http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?F...c14&DisplayLang=en and then you'll be able to use Messenger Plus! with MSN Messenger.

To remove it, go to Add/Remove Programs, then the tabs on the left, click Add/Remove Windows Componants and untick Windows Messenger (to get rid of it) [Note: To get it back you may need your XP disc, alternatively you can download it]

...but removing it will make it now work...? Bleh.^o)

When you install Messenger Plus!, it also installs on Windows Messenger aswell as MSN Messenger. :)
Edit: Yeah, you need MSN Messenger :P

that just removes access to windows messenger from the start menu, it doesn't uninstall messenger at all..

to remove windows messenger completely, follow cookies instructions found here:
CookieRevised's reply to I am about to rip my hair out over MS Messanger

Sorry Joa, I thought it 'removed' it.

I think it does too.  You don't want to get rid of windows messenger like this or else you will lose some functions in MSN/WLM.  The other way that was said in this thread is safe and still allows you to use all of MSN/WLM's features.

WLM doesn't use any of Windows Messenger's features at all (afaik).

Is it fixed now? Or do you still need help?
