Hello,

here is the first official update since Messenger Plus! 4.00 was released 3 weeks ago. Version 4.01 fixes problems that were preventing some users to get Messenger Plus! to work. Due to popular demand, the Quick Icons feature is also back in the game. The new panel displays faster and better than before, customization is also much more understandable now. Some things have been fixed in the scripting engine and Messenger Plus! is now 100% compatible with Yahoo Messenger contacts (for those of you who are beta testing this new feature of Windows Live Messenger). For a full list of changes, check out the change log.

Now that all of this is done, I feel better moving on with the upgrade. People who currently have Messenger Plus! 3 installed with Windows Live Messenger will be prompted next week to download the new software. Also, the msgplus.net domain now points to msgpluslive.net. If you still need to access the old web site (to get help on Messenger Plus! 3 for example), please go to http://old.msgplus.net. Most of the old site will be kept at this address as long as it’s deemed necessary. Translators will start working on msgpluslive.net next week so you’ll soon be able to browse this site in your native language (give them some time though, it’s holidays for everybody .

Last May, I was proudly announcing that Messenger Plus! had celebrated it’s 5th birthday. Well, it’s now time to celebrate the 7th year of Messenger’s own life… happy birthday Messenger! it’s good to remember that without Messenger, there would be no Messenger Plus! so check out Leah’s blog for some related free items . Edit: I tested it out and must say that this is lovely! The new Quick Emoticons is a lot better than before, with the scrollbar instead of huge windows and all. There are still rooms for improvements though. For example, I don't like how Plus! order the emoticons based on their shortcuts, not when they are added like WLM does. Oh, and now we don't get to change the key for the window to appear. :/ (I liked "[" more)

Good job, and thank you for the update patchou . I was very shocked to see/hear that the quick emotion panel was back so soon ! I didn't expect it for quite sometime .

It amazes me that one man (with some help from testers and such) can create such an amazing program, listen to his users, and implement their ideas, while an entire messenger team does not .

Shortcuts doesn't work.

I really enjoyed testing Messenger Plus! Live Patchou, glad you can finally start to relax .

I'm not sure I have installed it right what is different from WLM 8.0?

Shortcuts DO work... but some combinations doesn't. Eg. CTRL ALT END, CTRL ALT INS, say, CTRL ALT + any of those 5 buttons around DEL, above the directional buttons... plus, I see it quite unconfortable that I MUST specify a name tag OR auto message OR personal message in order to create the personalized status... I see no point why we can't do it the same old way (without having to modify any of those 3 entries).

Really happy to see that "You can now choose to display 20 sounds at a time in the sound panel" 

Could it be possible to Drag'nDrop the corner of the sound panel to be more flexible and to allow users to display the number of sounds that they want ?

I have tons of sounds (~ 200 voices sounds), and it's hard to scroll to see all the sounds (can't use the search function every time).

Just download the latest version from http://www.msgpluslive.net/download/ and install it.

..But I was at  my friends house and his Auto-Updated..And d/loading from there, will it get rid of all my scripts? :/

This is my first post, and I'm happy to say, Congrats Patchou!!!!

I've tried the MSN Plus Live! 4.00 and it was great, no problems at all, but a week ago I found the first problem, I use the contacts in desktop, and I had problems with the names in the shortcuts, it just showed "1" as if it was the name of everybody But then I actualized today, and it was fixed!!!!

Also I like that the Smiles shortcut is back again (the menu when you write "(" ) I really love it, thank you very much

I signed up to be able to send messages to Yahoo contacts, and now suddenly many people told me that I appear offline when I am not.
I'm sorry if this has nothing to do with MP, but if anybody is experiencing this same behaviour and found a way to fix it, please give me a hand on this.

yes but.....
mine still doesn't work.
the only thing has changed is the quick track icon when i push " ( " that is something i always hated because just makes me loose time when i'm writing and i really wish this could be choosable....
the rest,the commands and saving logs still don't work.

On the other hand... I would be much appreciated if we could still use the personalized status' shortcuts without having to enter any other information in the other fields as a MUST... After all... We didn't need to do that with MP!3

I still need even Live Messenger should be polished... but well... we already know Microsoft is having a tough time with all their Office and Vista projects... all the deadlines and bla bla bla... we should - i guess - consider it...

I think Princess meant that she wishes the key combination could be choosable...  as I do, too.
I'm very happy that this feature is back, because  I've always loved it (and missed it) very much, but I find this shortcut "(" really irritating. I think it would be lovely if one could choose his/her own combination.

It's not the same as plus! emoticon panel, because you cannot choose to see only your personal emoticons.

Yes, of course you can. That's the whole point. I'm doing it myself. The current emoticons panel only shows me my custom emoticons.

I would send you a shot but I'm kind of lazy right now to do it.

You should take a deep look into the P! preferences. It's there. You can replace the common Live Messenger's emoticons panel, and you can choose only to show your custom emoticons ONLY.

Ah, now I see what you mean. Well, it's ok, I was used to another key combination, I will have to get used to ctrl+E. Not a big problem.
I really would prefer to choose my own, but that's ok anyway.
