Virus? Security Issue? by HitchHiker on 07-18-2006 at 02:11 AM

Windows Live Messenger seems to be inserting randoms words into the text box where you type. They can appear at anytime, with no discernable pattern. The words include "of, and, then, in, new" and other prepositions. I have Windows Live Messenger 8 (build 8.0.0792.00). I also installed Messenger Plus! Live (first available download), along with the following scripts installed:

  • Speech,
    Babelfish Translator,
    Linked Chats,
    securePLUS,
    Simple Alarm, and
    StealDP.
I'm not sure if these scripts had security issues, but they seem to be from trustworthy sources. Has anyone else seen this issue before?

try disabling all your scripts and see if it happens, then try uninstalling plus to again see if it stilll happens

if it doesn't happen with the scripts enabled, try enabling them one at a time to see which ones causeing the problem

The problem is Speech. I disabled it and it's fine now.
