"MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Jellings on 07-23-2006 at 07:01 PM

i got an add from "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" (msn-administration-technician@hotmail.com)

Aparently msn assigned him/her to talk to 400 contacts about msn:

"I get assigned 400 contacts to talk to, to see if they like msn and its new features and if any reason should it be changed in any way."

I'm wondering if this is real, and if anyone else has got added by him/her.

I've blocked him/her for now until i know if this is real.

EDIT: this person appears to be using messenger plus as he/she has a colourised name

just delete+block..

doubt they are trying to hack but hey :P

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Menthix on 07-23-2006 at 07:15 PM

Just talking isn't gonna hurt anyone (AFAIK there are no open exploits in the current version of Messenger), but don't accept any file he send you and don't click sites he links you to.

But it's definitely fake, I can't imagine they're up to anything good.

Fake, I think he got your email from your profile :).

Working on that... he seems to be very helpful :o.

EDIT: Convo with the guy:

      MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN     zegt (21:39):

I still don't believe he really has good intentions, and I certainly don't believe he was assigned by Microsoft. Reported it in the MS newsgroups.

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Jellings on 07-23-2006 at 08:06 PM

Thanks for the help everyone.

I got a weird bug about 15minutes after talking to this guy - above one of my conversation windows i got a message like "this person is not on your contact list, click to add them now" (i don't remember the actual wording of it), i opened my contact list to check if she was still on it and she was. restarting messenger solved it - but this had never happened before until talking to this guy (i did not download anything from him or click on any links from him)

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Chris4 on 07-23-2006 at 08:15 PM

Trust me, it wasn't him, he can't do anything just by talking to you ;)

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Jellings on 07-23-2006 at 08:25 PM

must've been a coincidence, i thought it best to check just in case though. thanks

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Chris4 on 07-23-2006 at 08:33 PM

His personal message is "If You Have Any Problems With Anything On MSN Just Ask ME"

You can tell he's fake, noobs try and act smart by putting capital letter for every word :dodgy:

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Exca on 07-23-2006 at 08:40 PM

He hopes that microsoft will notice him and hire him along with his good intentions... let's say he is twelve and naïve :) (srr for the twelve year old members here; no offence!)

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Menthix on 07-23-2006 at 11:55 PM

Oh well, I believe he gave up on pretending to be a MSN/MS person now (or being assigned by them), as long as he gives up on that everything is fine. No need to bother him any further.

Some guys on the Windows Live Butterflies newsgroup also had convos with him. He doesn't seem to have bad intentions, just a kid trying a little too hard to be helpful. Somebody told him to help people out on the mess.be forums :).

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Chris4 on 07-24-2006 at 12:15 AM

Poor kid. Just wants to be accepted. :P

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Hank on 07-24-2006 at 12:25 AM

this is the start of Yahoo Porn bots getting in your address book IMO,  they'll fake anything to get there porn links out

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Menthix on 07-24-2006 at 12:34 AM

Bots just paste their link after a few lines. And this abviously isn't a bot.

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Voldemort on 07-24-2006 at 12:36 AM

lol, that helpful added me too.

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by welshboy222 on 07-24-2006 at 06:29 AM

Well that just proves that kids want to help on msn but they shouldn't lie to do it.

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by NiteMare on 07-24-2006 at 07:03 AM

and this is why i don't advertise my address in my profile:P

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Vilkku on 07-24-2006 at 07:18 AM

I'm using the same method as NiteMare, but instead of telling them to click my sig to get to W2M I simply have my W2M in my MSN field :)

Lol, you know how much time he spends typing about MSN and helping people?

Those porn links work just like spam, you spam the link to ten- or hundredthousands of people and hope a tiny percentage (usually below 1%) actually buys a paid subscription to the site you're spamming for. There is no way you're gonna do this by first talking hours to various people about something totally unrelated. Takes way too much time and you can only talk to maybe a few hundred if you're really good... even if you spam those few hundred all with a link like that, chances are nobody will subscribe... amount of people is just too low for that.
RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by Jellings on 07-24-2006 at 10:55 AM

Odd, this guy is trying really hard to look helpful.
Usually fake people act clever for a bit, then shout abuse at you. Oh well, he doesn't seem to be doing any harm - i might leave him on my contact list for when i get bored...

RE: "MSN-ADMINISTRATION-TECHNICIAN" by aNILEator on 07-24-2006 at 02:19 PM

lol reminds me of when they released hotmail.co.uk and a few of us registered 'msn messenger admin' type names and asked people over messenger about creating a new set of emoticons for the next official verson of messenger :P
