DRm problem by billydean on 08-01-2006 at 09:11 AM

Hey guys! Frankly speaking audio DRM protection, fighting against audio pirates, prevents nearly all types of fair use of audio by legal subscribers
Seaching the web I've found several soft tools to remove this protection - I suppose it's absolutely legal cause we do pay for the songs!  What's your point of view?
Regards...

I highly doubt the legality of DRM workarounds, since DRM was meant to stop piracy, and disabling it just allows piracy again.

My view on this is that DRM only keeps an honest person honest, and if they want to fight music piracy they should give the users a decent alternative to downloading music illegaly.

The current DRM ridden solutions don't cut it, if they followed the model of eMusic, and provided DRM free, legal music at a low cost, then a lot more people would buy music.

Having said that, by downloading DRM music, you agree to abide by the DRM lisence and so you shouldn't try and circumvent it

But these companies are allowed to place absolutely legal sites... So they seem not to be outside the law!
Soundtaxi isn't the exception

Just becuase a site looks legal, it doesn't mean it is legal. allofmp3.com looks like a perfectly legit site, yet it is considered outside the law.
