hmmm, This might help. It has a few links that could work. CTRL + F your way to  bad_pool_caller :P

RE: bad_pool_caller is back again :( by aNILEator on 08-07-2006 at 09:48 PM

i've been on those links before but they didn't really help me, :-( it basically translates as either faulty driver, faulty memory, faulty software, faulty hardware.....

so doesn't actually narrow it down in the end 8-)

i've tested my memory with both memtestx86 and MS Memory Tester thingy both went through a good few cycles without any errors showing so i stopped scanning

see this is what the MS site supposedly says my problem is
•    Thepool has already been freed.

•    Parameter 1 = 0x07 : Attempt to free a pool that was already freed
•    Parameter 2 = Reserved (__LINE__)
•    Parameter 3 = Pointer to pool header
•    Parameter 4 = 0

which leads me to think its ram gone bad but each one tests positive.

i have 1.5gb 2 512 sticks that came with my PC and one from my old PC they are different brands but this shouldn't make a difference surely :S

Go through and test it with one stick out at a time, It sounds like bad memory to me.

Just FYI, RAM can go bad and still "test" fine in memtest and other testers.

which test do you reccommend, there are a few options for each

You'd be surprised. The older memory won't be matched to the newer memory, and this may be the couse of the problem.

well i think my older PC had better RAM, i beleive i bought a kingston ram stick to replace faulty RAM in that one. my current PC well i couldn't see any brand name on the RAM sticks so i assume its a bit 'worse' :P

I have to go to hospital now so if you lot come up with some more suggestions i'll do them all when i get back later today

BUMP:

sorry for the double post but i've finally found time to run mem test on all my sticsk seperatly, went through a  minimum of 4 passes each stick

no errors :S

RE: bad_pool_caller is back again :( by Voldemort on 08-20-2006 at 12:23 AM

try using only one at once.... ram may be faulty, tests wrong.

RE: bad_pool_caller is back again :( by aNILEator on 08-20-2006 at 12:35 AM

huh... i did use only one at one whilst testing....

and there is no way i'm only using one stick whilst booting into Windows XP :P

i haven't had the bsod in a few days now so (yn) i've only got this connection dropping to sort out ¬_¬

RE: bad_pool_caller is back again :( by Voldemort on 08-20-2006 at 12:42 AM

heh, perhaps something was loose.
i use win xp with only 512 mb of ram on my dad's computer and there is no problem ....

yeah but i like my 1.5gb memory to run all my multimedia programs at once :)

photoshop, illustrator, image ready and flash work lovely all at once :)
