youtube problem by siemprebuenoo on 08-09-2006 at 04:01 PM

hi
i have a problem in youtube where i can't play any film there its giving me :

Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Click here to get the latest flash player.

while i have the latest flash player and i never turned off my javascript or know how to check it or solve it...
anyone can help?

RE: youtube problem by Jimcando on 08-10-2006 at 12:48 AM

To make sure Javascript is turned on, in Internet Explorer, go to:
Tools -> Internet Options -> Security Tab -> Click on Custom Level -> Scroll down to Scripting (near the bottom) and click Enable for Active Scripting.
Then OK, and OK again.

If Javascript is turned on and it still doesn't work, then make sure you definately have the lastest version of flash player

RE: youtube problem by RaceProUK on 08-10-2006 at 09:09 AM

For Firefox, it's:
Tools > Options > Content > Enable JavaScript (Windows)
Edit > Preferences > Content > Enable JavaScript (*nix)

Don't ask me why it's different on *nix, it just is.

Yep. Tools > Options is a Windows thing. Firefox is following the convention. Lots of programs also use Edit > Preferences, I don't know where that comes from.
RE: youtube problem by jelly_head91 on 10-17-2007 at 05:53 AM

I am having this same problem!

I have tried unintalling then reinstalling Flash, Enabling javascript (even though it was already enabled) and then tried clearing the temporary files ... everything it says in the Youtube help section.

I now have no idea what to do ... anymore suggestions?

Thanks

RE: youtube problem by Lourix on 10-17-2007 at 03:13 PM

I would try it on a different browser like firefox or something if it still doesn't work post again.

RE: youtube problem by jelly_head91 on 10-18-2007 at 02:49 PM

just tried it with FireFox and i am still getting the message :S

RE: youtube problem by Lourix on 10-18-2007 at 03:30 PM

1. Try this website http://www.softwarepatch.com/ and then search for flash player

2. Download and install this file.

This new .msi file will solve you the problem in most cases I should add. See if that works.

RE: youtube problem by jelly_head91 on 10-18-2007 at 03:33 PM

yep thats got it!

Thanks so much for your help :)

RE: youtube problem by True_Tech on 10-24-2007 at 04:48 AM

anyone have any other suggestions i'm having the exact same problem as of yesterday it stopped working for no reason 2 days ago i'm sure it worked i watched some old music videos before i went to bed, came home from class yesterday and for some reason nothing works for me any longer i tried all the suggestions in this thread so far nothing has worked for me

RE: youtube problem by maivira on 10-24-2007 at 09:01 PM

I'm also having the same problem, I don't understand why because Youtube was working fine for me until a day or so ago, never had any problems before in the many months I have used it for, but when I tried to use it on Tuesday I kept getting the 'Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player' message, even though I hadn't made any changes to my computer since the previous time I had used Youtube. I have tried everything since Tuesday to try and fix it: uninstalling and then reinstalling the new Flash player, making sure Java script is enabled, clearing cache and cookies, downloading the msi file that was recommended, even tried using Firefox as a browser instead of IE but still got the same message when I got to the Youtube site. I can't figure out how to fix the problem, does anyone have any further suggestions? I would really appreciate any advice.

RE: youtube problem by Ultrasteve on 10-24-2007 at 10:01 PM

Hi all. Having the same problem since yesterday too. Anybody know what's going on? Is it a problem with youtube's servers? It all seems to have happened at the same time. Anyone else have any ideas on how to fix it? None of the options so far has worked.

Youtube does not use Java (which is different to Javascript).

RE: youtube problem by kezz on 04-17-2008 at 01:07 AM

Maybe if lots of people are having the SAME problem at the SAME time, Youtube is having problems? I'm sure they are working to fix it.

i have downloaded the latest flash player and my java script is definatley not turned off... i have checked that it isnt over and over again
someone help pleeeeeeeeasee! many thanks

RE: youtube problem by supermario29 on 07-18-2008 at 09:43 PM

I have had exactly the same problem for ages and i have just solved it! If you go onto the flash installation and then it says ' if the flash player fails to install then please visit the adobe website to help troubleshoot the problem' you then have to click on the link and then one of the options tells you to make sure you have unintalled previous flash players, so you then click on this link, uninstall previous flash players, and then download the flash player again... and bammm it worked for me:D and now my youtube is working.. i hope it works for you:)

RE: youtube problem by zxc on 08-07-2008 at 08:47 AM

I have the same problem. Last night youtube worked fine and since then I have not changed anything on my system. I have the lastest flash player and JavaScript is switched but this morning I cannot watch any YouTube vids. Other vid sites work fine. I suspect YouTube has changed something. The YouTube HELP service is SH*T thus there is no one you can contact the explain the situation.

If my system has not changed then IT must be YouTube that is a fault.
