File Extension Unblocker? by hiqbal on 08-13-2006 at 03:11 PM

I want to unblock the file extensions that messenger disallows to open from my trusted contacts. I receive couple of audio and video files. When I click them from messenger window after completion, I get a warning of files being harmful, they are blocked & nowhere to be found on computer.

I knew about a File Extension Unblocker at mess.be which fixed these extentions on MSN Messenger 7.5x. Please help with any updated & tested tool working with the following:

Windows Live Messenger 8.0.0812.00
MsgPlus! 4.01.0.240
Mess Patch 8.0.0812 - Generation 4

Thanks and regards,

Hiqbal

Yeah, i have experienced that. I was lazy enough to not search a fix for it, so i just copy/move the file somewhere else before opening it. Solution/fix would be good, though. :)

I don't think moving files in another folder works. As long as you click on the files completed in the active chat window, it blocks the files disallowed.

Please find attched the extension fix I used for older version of MSN Messenger.

Admin edit: attachment removed (ZIP » extfix.exe - Win32/RiskWare.ExtUnlock.A application)

Yes, but you don't have to click "Open" in your conversation window, do you? Just open directory where you saved it and move it away.

And is there any way to send files with blocked extensions.

Put it in a .zip file?

Or, change the file name then tell your contact to change it back :)
